The forest is beautiful, smells amazing, and is lovely as long as snow isn't coming and makes the roads dangerous!

We enjoying driving through Targhee National Forest during our recent vacation in GTNP. Provided the weather is good and the roads are clear it's fun to drive down the forest roads to see what you will encounter. Having a 4x4 vehicle is also good for...More

Gorgeous area of the country to drive through just make sure of the weather as it can snow at the drop of your hat. Temperatures can be 75 then plummet to 25 in an hour or two when winds pick up. 4 wheel drive always...More

The trailhead parking lot is just past Teton Campground, at 7,200 feet elevation. You don't have to walk far to take in some truly stunning mountain views, with snow visible even in August, and a carpet of wildflowers beyond your dreams. It's the sort of...More

We enjoyed taking several hiking trails in the Targhee National forest. It is peaceful and quiet...take time to enjoy, but carry your bear spray just to be safe!

Like the surrounding area, the section that is the Targhee National Forest is also really beautiful. A lot of great pullouts, some trailheads, and camping. The Snake River comes through here and it's truly stunning.
