The trail is marked as moderate. It was a bit challenging at spots since it was very muddy (had been raining every day). I don't think I'd try to bring small children up there. But we enjoyed our climb up. The actual falls are wonderful...More

Came here right before the fires happened when the drought was still going strong. It was so beautiful and worth the hike!

We stopped at grotto to play in the water but kept going up to Brushy Mountain. This is a great area to bring kids. It's not that far of a hike but it is a little steep. Not as easy as you might think. Make...More

After many empty trails hiked this week in the park, we couldn't believe the crowds on this hike on a Thursday in May. There were so many people sitting at the falls. It was a gradual hike up. Nice for all ages. There were many...More

Grotto Falls is accessed from the Trillium Gap Trail, which goes up to Monte LeConte. The roundtrip distance to the waterfalls is 2.6 mi/4.2 km, and the trail is rated moderate (should be rated easy). Given the popularity of this trail, there is very limited...More

Way too many people sitting around at the falls for you to move around. We went early too. Trail is rough but not hard to make it to the top.

The fall itself is nothing spectacular. However you get to sit behind the fall which is a fairly unique experience. I would doubt though if it is worth all the walk

The waterfall was well worth the hike. DO NOT park at the trailhead of the Trillium Gap trail as it says on the National Park service website. If you do you will be walking a LONG way. Keep going just past the parking lot for...More

We hiked a bit and then just found some nice flat rocks to picnic on. I'm not sure if there are picnic tables around. We improvised. There may have been picnic tables in the area off the main road, if I am remembering... More
