We visited the park on Black Friday. We got to the park at 9am. It was already filling up with people. Very busy place by late afternoon. Enjoyed the wildlife exhibits in the museum. Very unique displays. Posters in interesting location in restrooms of elk, bear and deer needing their privacy too. Good reminder. Good place to purchase maps of... More

This isn't my normal review.. Over the last couple of days there has been wildfires up in our National Park and in Gatlinburg. There has been lots of damage to our park, cabins, homes,etc.. Downtown Gatlinburg is still intact for the most part.. I'm urging people to donate money to the Red Cross and to other charities in Gatlinburg because... More

The Smoky Mountains National Park is a great place to visit and that starts with a visit to the Sugarlands Visitors Center. They have so many interesting books, maps, badges, etc. as well as knowledgeable folks to answer what ever questions you may have.

Stop here to talk to the park rangers. They'll ask what you want to do, and how much time you have. They can advise on wildlife sightings for bear or elk, or the best place to see wildflowers or whether the falls have water. They can advise how to avoid crowds or which hikes work best for kids, wheelchairs, or... More

The park rangers were knowledgeable and professional. Their suggestions of trails were appropriate for our skill level. My niece has Multiple sclerosis and she was able to enjoy the park even with her disability because of their suggestions. It was a wonderful family experience!

This is such a cute little visitors center! It has a little museum of such animals and things you might encounter. And if you are in need, it has really nice restrooms.

This is a good place to learn about the park. Rangers can give you information about what the park has to offer. There is a small museum displaying plants and animals of the park. It's a short hike to a small waterfall behind the visitors' center. There are also bathrooms and you can buy maps and park information brochures for... More

If you are unfamiliar with the smoky mountains your first stop should be at the visitor center. You can get road and trail maps and staff will be more than happy to recommend activities and answer questions for you. You also have access to bathrooms and a gift shop, the theater shows films about the smoky mountains on a rotating... More

Sugar lands visitor center offers friendly rangers to help with hikes and outdoor activities. The wildlife exhibit is very nicely done, too. There is also a gift shop. We usually stop in at the visitors center every time we come to Gatlnburg.

The staff was very helpful on a wide range of questions. Recommend getting the Starter pack ($5.) that is available at the information area. There are several nice trails behind the complex that are easy and fun to walk. Bad comment: When we were there the bathroom smelled and was very dirty.
