Rolling trail with nice views & walking a bit of a ridge line

Quiet trail, kind of narrow at the higher elevations, nice views & few hikers. My daughter & I preferred this trail to Rainbow Falls when hiking down from Mt LeConte.

We loved hiking this trail down from Mt. LeConte! It had beautiful views. It had neat rocky outcrops and took about 4 hours with stops!

We have hiked up to the LeConte lodge for 34 years and used all the trails. Bullhead is long, 8 miles from parking lot to the top, but it's a good trail. It's very grassy toward the top but in early spring it should not be bad. I see very little wildlife, certainly no snakes. And I'm so busy watching... More

The fella and I are fairly avid hikers (we've done Charlie's Bunion, Alum Cave, etc.), and we're both in pretty good shape. After our first two trails were closed, we decided to do Bullhead since it was close and the day was getting away from us. The Hiking in the Smokies website said this trail was moderate, so compared to... More

When I read "most popular trail" I am immediately less interested. When I looked up Bullhead it didn't sound all that popular which is exactly what I wanted. We hiked to Mount Leconte up Rainbow Falls trail and down Bullhead. We saw many people on Rainbow falls, even more on top of Mount Leconte, but not a single other person... More

I go up the Rainbow Falls trail to the summit and come down the Bullhead Trail, completing the 13 mile loop. The last time I did this trail in October, it was disappointing. Apparently there are few that ever travel this trail because it had much overgrowth for about the first mile down from the trail junction near the top.... More

First, there is no bad hike in The Smokies, but compared to others I have to say this trail is average. I did this hike and saw some gorgeous Fall colors though (see pictures). I went up Rainbow Falls and then down Bull Head which was a nice 12.5 mile loop hike. The views from Bull Head coming down with... More

I hiked this trail with my 12 yr. old son in May '09 on our way to Mt. LeConte. Monotonous 6 miles of uphill struggle under the sun. No spectacular views, no water source (except some water dripping from rocks), but did almost step on a rattlesnake.
