Loved this drive. Saw a herd of Elk and were able to pull over to take photos. There are plenty of places to pull over for exploring and photos. Would take this trip again for sure.

Beautiful drive with many points to stop off and discover or take pics. We took this road to Clingman's Dome and stopped off at a few places to explore.

Sorry,no information on walking groups. I would check at the welcoming centers in the Great Smokey parks.

No only you can pull and hike but there is some overnight parking available too so that you can camp to see some exotics early morning scenery and animals.

The road should not be an issue except for the tunnels and I am not sure about the height restrictions. It is a nice road and has recently been repaved. There can be heavy traffic at times also.
