We hiked this trail to get to Pratt Cabin. It was beautiful and interesting (lots of deciduous trees up the canyon and water in some of the river beds which juxtaposed with the desert we'd just come off of). We saw a couple deer and...More

We hiked to the Grotto. The trail starts as pebbles which is like walking on a sandy beach, then it changes to rocks the size of your fist. You have to walk across the dry river bed rocks several times and cross a couple of...More

McKittrick Canyon information center is worth the short drive from the main highway. The view is beautiful and there's plenty of information about the man for whom the canyon is named.

After hiking to the top of Guadalupe Peak, this hike was relaxing and easy. We stopped and enjoyed the front porch of the Pratt Cabin. There are wonderful rockers there to sit back and take in the historical premises. If you are so inclined, there...More

For the first 2 hours, you are in the canyon, a valley, very flat. Then the trail moves upward into the mountain range and the view gets great. Just do it!
