Great walk. Worried about the difficulty of walk but it was not to strenuous. There were some steps going down and going out but if a person take time and rest if need to, it is a good stop to make.

A short walk from the Crater Rim Road, this hike is picturesque walking through the rain forest on a paved trail. Not wheelchair accessible and quite a few stairs so unaided mobility is needed. The tube is longer than I expected but is large enough to walk through, something my 6'4" husband appreciates and doesn't always experience! It is lighted... More

After exploring many traditional caves, the Thurston Lava Tube was an interesting change of pace. Nature never fails to impress, and to wonder what it must have been like to witness the power of this eruption was nearly impossible. It was also cool to see how the rain forest has reclaimed the area. While very interesting, I would stop short... More

Parking may be a problem at peak times, but cars are restricted to 30 minutes. We were lucky and had no problem. Be prepared for a steep stairway descent into the rainforest, which in itself is beautiful, to the entrance of the tube. Quite incredible to think it was created by a lava flow. Walk through to the back exit... More

It was a very short walk to the lava tube!!! Heaps of parking and bathrooms near by. It's was such an amazing thing to see in real life it was quite cold walking through the tunnel also a bit slippery so wear sneakers.

Visited as part of a tour from our cruise ship. Would totally recommend but only wish it wasn't pouring rain because it was soaking in the tunnel so we didn't spend much time.

short and super easy walk. Restrooms are close by, many parking spots and several hiking trails start close to this.
