It was a nice hike and we had some nice views. Our highlight was seeing "Shelly" a black turtle my son named. They are rare to see, so this was truly the highlight moment of this hike!

This is a moderately strenuous hike, with a warning sign at the entrance that "people have died on this trail". Although the hike is an out and back hike of 1.5 miles each way, you are walking up and down small mountains, so you will...More

The 49 Palms Oasis Trail is just the perfect hike. It is 3 miles roundtrip, with about 350 feet of gain/loss in each direction. A little bit challenging, without wearing you out. Then, you are rewarded with a beautiful lush oasis of palm trees and...More

If you are staying in Joushua City you must drive to the other side of the park to reach this oasis. The drive to reach this place is very scenic. It would have been nice if they had a few benches to sit on here...More

Great introductory hike in the park. It's a relatively easy hike that takes about 90 mins. There are a bunch of large rocks near the palm trees to climb over, if you want to explore a little more. It's a pretty walk and the oasis...More

Well worth the hike. You can see the tall Palm Trees in the distance if you look for them. Go early to get some private time at the Oasis because it is not big and it gets crowded.

I like trails that are rewarding. I'd call this a short, compact trail with medium strenuous moments - there's a pretty decent incline or two that lasts 5-10 minutes depending on how in shape you are (do u even lift, bro?), but the entire trail...More

This was a nice, relatively quick trail. The placard states should budget 2-3 hours; realistically can do this in 1.5 hr. Takes about 35 min (~1.5 mi) to end of trail going at moderate pace. Approximately 300 ft elevation change each way, but was quite...More

I was there on a holiday weekend. It was the less crowded area of the park. The hike was a little strenuous but we are all in shape. We saw some people struggling to climb the hills. The oasis is beautiful as you come over...More

At best you could see it from a distance. The oasis is at the end of the trail in, up a good grade and then down a grade. It is not a "walk", it could be difficult for some.

Given recent rains the oasis pond should have ample water. The air is clear, temperature is perfect for hiking (if the wind stays down). I live here so I walk everyday. I love the solitude in winter - but it is lonely... More
