Not a good idea unless you call and ask what is the slowest day of the year. But, the park will have reduced staff too. They often sell out days in advance.

We did the historic tour and the domes and dripstones tours in the same day with our six year old and he handled both well but he says historic was his favorite.

Yes on the restaurant . Plenty of picnic areas. Did not try restaurant.
