Sunrise is a great place for hiking close to Mount Rainier and getting absolutely stunning views of the mountain. Everything is in technocolor early july. We saw a cinnamon colored black bear sitting approximately 60 yards from us starring at us! Thrilling and amazing at the same time!

After a climb with lots of switchbacks you reach Sunrise. There is a very large parking lot. Plants and animals are the subject of the exhibits in the visitor center . Staff is very helpful and very good informed on the trail conditions. The views on the drive to and at the visitor center are amazing. Even better views from... More

What I like about Sunrise is 1. Not as crowded as Paradise 2. Tons of parking area 3. Views are awesome on the way in 4. Great trails I reached Sunrise trail early in the morning to avoid the crowds. I would suggest that you go there before sunrise. If there is no cloud cover, you will be blessed with... More

You can access many trails on your adventure and discover an abundant supply of wildflowers, all the while being able to take in the breathtaking beauty of Mount Rainier. You can see waterfalls as well....love seeing water... More

Sunrise Visitor area has beautiful and huge views of Mt. Rainier. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot. This old building has many things to walk around and view. Most important are the clean washrooms, especially after your drive up to the Sunrise Visitor area. The roads are good and you really need to drive at or below... More
