We did this hike in mid-May. The trail to the beach (1.8 to 3 miles one way, according to various sources - took us about 1.5 hours) goes through ancient woods and is very muddy, the kind you sink into. The path at the end...More

This is hard to find and about a 2.2 mile hike in and out, but it is fabulous and would be worth the drive/hike. The entrance to the trail head is just south of the Hobuck Beach Resort. Park in the lot, lock your car...More

This was the first beach we visited on the US West Coast so it will be a special place forever. You will need to hike/walk for a couple of miles but it is a piece of cake for backpackers, or easy hike for anyone without...More

This is a walk.....but.....it truly is muddy. The actual hike is fairly flat on a good trail. The mud gets a bit much but as long as you have a good boot you will be fine. Runners are not enough!!!! You will be soaked and...More

It's a long drive from Port Townsend Washington, but so very worth the drive. The views are absolutely amazing. It's a great feeling to be in such a remote place. Stay for the sunset!

It is a fantastic beach and it can be a fun muddy hike it's your choice. If you want to enjoy the beach without the mud then look for a little sign that says parking about the first 1/3 of the beach road. $10 bucks...More

If you can swing it, do it! The hike out to Shi Shi (pronounced Shy Shy) is not too bad but is a bit muddy in spots. There are paths around the mud so it wasn't too bad - but we are on a hike...More

Relaxed here after Cape Flattery! Enjoyed a beverage (of our own) on a rock and had a special time watching the tide come in around us.

Lisa, Where did you start this trail at? We did this last May but it was like 3.5 miles before we got to the beach. Any info would be helpful as I am going again in September. Thanks!

Hi, I'm heading to Shi Shi at the end of the month. What are the water sources out there? We'd like to stay a couple of nights so I imagine I will need to filter. Also, from what I've read if you camp out you must park/pay at a local residence??? How do you get to the trailhead from there?

Correction* 'Recreation Permit' not a 'tribal land use pass' is $10.
I'll be heading up to shi shi beach from the south (Rialto beach). From what I see online it seems as though the only places to buy the recreation pass is out of the way in Neah Bay. Does anyone know of somewhere en route I could purchase one or online prior to my trip to Washington? Thanks
