One of my top five hikes. And we hike a lot! I see some folks saying this is an 8-mile hike. My trail info said 9.0 miles and my GPS confirmed that. The hike begins at the Glacier Gorge Trailhead on Bear Lake Road. Consider...More

Since seeing Sky Pond requires an 8-mile round-trip hike, it's more about the journey than the destination. And the journey was fantastic! It starts off with the impressive Alberta Falls, peaceful forest, and tons of great valley vistas. Then the crowds thin out and the...More

This is a long (almost 10 mile RT), beautiful and at times technical hike. Wear pants (because knees may come in contact with rocks), proper footwear, and layers on top (because you'll get hot, cold and very likely rained upon). Bring a picnic lunch, a...More

I did this 8-mile hike with my sisters last September. The small lot at the trailhead was full at 8:30 in the morning, so we parked at the shuttle station. The park ranger said we could hike from the station and pick up the sky...More

Beautiful all the way around. Challenging hike but worth every step up the mountain. Saw just about all the terrain possible in RMNP. Beautiful rivers, mountain views, elk, badger, incredible lakes, challenging climbs, snow patches, waterfalls. Amazing! 10 mi well worth it.

A fantastic hike with several great sites to see along the way. Mostly steady elevation climb. We did this hike in early July where snow cover was still there for certain parts of the trail. Being mindful of this, as well as varying levels of...More

This hike was fantastic. This is about an 8 mile round trip hike. Moderate till close to the end when you need to climb a waterfall to reach sky Pond. We encountered sun, rain, thunder and hail and tracked through quite a bit of snow....More

This was one of my favorite hikes ever. It's not easy but it's completely worth it. You see two waterfalls and three mountain lakes. You have to climb a portion of one of the lakes. We also saw elk and marmots. If you do the...More

Yes. If you are not an avid hiker and not acclimated to altitude it will take you about 2-4 hours to get to Sky pond, depending on how much you stop (to photograph, eat, drink, etc.) and you'll need about half that time to... More
