Back and forth hike of about 4 hours to a bald peak offering almost 360 degree views. Moderate ascend to the peak. We've done it with kids while path was covered with snow and haven't been challenged.
Most of the trail is shady, hence should be pleasant also on a hot summer day.

My family did this hike after Little Baldy, expecting a little easier hike. Although we did fine for the first few miles, I eventually developed a headache and had to stop. My brother went on and finished the hike, but my dad and I had to stay behind (and miss the awesome view :(). I'm pretty sure that if I went again another day, I would have made it. Overall, it was a pretty good hike.

The trail to Big Baldy is definitely a moderate hike throughout. You go up in elevation over fairly uneven terrain while exposed to the sun. The trail runs along the valley ridge, so you get some spectacular views of the valley as you hike. The entire trail is about 2.2 miles, with no loop, so you'll have to hike back the same trail to return to the trailhead. Easily doable solo or with a small group of people in a few hours. Definitely stop for lunch or a snack at the top! The view is absolutely fantastic!

This is by far one of my favorite hikes in King's Canyon. The views at the peak are amazing and I always see wildlife like chipmunks and marmots. Definitely a must-see if you are in the area!

This hike begins with a scenic overlook of most of the mountain peaks and lakes within King's Canyon National Park. We hiked about 1 1/2 miles uphill through the woods. Unfortunately the wild fire smoke obscured the view to the west while we were there. I would hike this again to see the view.

Like most other hikes in Kings/Sequoia, if you are going to see the spectacular vista or overlook promised in guides and descriptions, you are likely to be disappointed. The pollution is so prevalent that the view from Big Baldy (and all the other "view" hikes) is compromised. The smoke from wildfires is a minor contributor, but don't let a clear blue sky mislead you. The sky is clear at 8-10-12k feet, but when you are on Big Baldy looking out you are looking at the valley full of pollution and seeing more than the closest group of ridges is difficult. Get a pollution check before you go on any hike where you hope for scenic panoramas. The hike to Big Baldy is very simialr to the hike to Little Baldy, just longer and somewhat more anxiety inducing at the end for those leery of heights. I would suggest doing Little Baldy first, taking less time and getting the same flavor. If that trips your trigger than go on to Big Baldy.

Very easy hike with a well marked trail that is wide and well maintained. Majority of the hike is also shaded. The trail is quite dusty and my clothes and shoes were caked in dirt when I returned. Not busy and peaceful on my hike. The views at the top are great -excellent photo opportunities and a wonderful place to stop and enjoy the beautiful of the area.

Gotta hike past Big Baldy, through the short forest and onto the further peaks. That’s where you’ll find the best views on Big Baldy.

We hiked this peak from the Lodge (rather than the trailhead) and it was not easy. A little over 4 miles, but the last little bit has some incline. The view from the top, like everywhere around here, is very nice. Mountains in every direction and snow peaks even in June.

A gorgeous hike out to a beautiful viewpoint of the valley. We hiked in the clouds and just as we reached the end of the hike the sky opened up for views across to the Sierra and blue skies. We were above the clouds and in a few minutes we watched the cloud bank rise from the valley and encompass us again. A terrific hike in all conditions and not to be missed.
