We rode the entire length of Skyline Drive on our way to the Smoky Mountains. It was a great day, we stopped at the well equipped stores and visitors centers along the way, and we did a short walk/hike or two. I can't wait to...More

Some beautiful views - obviously less so on a cloudy day!! Lots of stopping points on the drive. Not worth driving the full distance.

Three day two night visit to the park and that is just not enough. What a lovely place and it was nice and cool unless you are hiking one of the more demanding mountains. Great place for all although respect the hiking recommendations.

Drive slowly and scan wooded areas for bears. You often see moms with their cubs. The look outs are wonderful places for pictures.

We only a small part of the drive but it was worthy. The view from the road is amazing. It takes a while to drive though, we spent the morning there just for a quarter of the road but I would do it again.

Just a few more points: Route 211 for the last few miles before you arrive at Thornton Gap is a steep uphill drive with lots of curves. You pay your entrance fee at the Thornton Gap entrance. It's only about ten miles from... More
