There are several hiking trails at both the Rainy River and Ash River visitor centers that can make a visit to the park enjoyable. Be sure to dress in light layers in case the mosquitoes decide to come out.

The most beautiful area in Minnesota! Being in the houseboat on the water for the weekend is amazing. Decent fishing, fun exploring, good family time.

Sun, rain, clouds, heavy gusts, storms all in a day. Lots of easy day hikes. The houseboat sites can be hard to spot at times so bring binoculars. Water can be calm or very choppy. Lots of mosquitoes even in cooler September.

Awesome experience. The quiet. The peace. We rented the "honeymooner" for 4 nights. The stars. The togetherness. Wonderful journey. Such friendly and helpful staff.

You can't go wrong with a national park visitor center because it gives you the chance to talk with rangers. This one also is a starting point for boat tours of Rainy Lake, which is by far the best way to appreciate this park. You're...More

Beautiful scenery and fishing. Better understanding of the voyageurs provided at Grand Portage National Historic Site. This is the place to get away from it all, but bring your own food (or better yet be prepared to catch and cook it yourself) because there is...More
