On my first trip to Zion, the shuttle buses were always full and hiking was mostly walking single file with dozens of people in front and behind. There were so many visitors that at times it felt like I was at an amusement park, waiting...More

While much smaller than Zion Canyon there are still the huge sandstone walls and great hiking trails. It’s only 40 minutes from St George so it’s an easy side trip especially if coming to St George from Bryce Canyon. Crowds are smaller than Zion Canyon...More

My wife and I traveled to the Kolob Canyon area of Zion NP for a less crowded hiking experience. As we left the Kolob Visitor Center and traveled up the road into the canyon, we realized we had stumbled into a wonderland! The red peaks...More

Sadly, although we're residents of Utah, it took us 16 years to finally visit Kolob Canyon, the North-West tip of Zion National Park. The park entrance is just off I-15 highway. Stop at the visitor's center to pay the entrance fee or show your National...More

We enjoyed the Kolob Canyon drive and overlooks. There was virtually no crowd here compared to the other, more popular part of Zion. The canyon was beautiful in the late afternoon sun. If you are going north of Springdale, it’s definitely worth stopping here for...More

Kolob Canyons is a gorgeous wilderness area with soaring red-rock peaks. It's a less-well-known and less-visited area in the northwest corner of the park; it is not in Zion Canyon near Springdale, and the shuttles do not go there. Kolob Canyons is accessed off Interstate...More

The took this scenic 6 mile drive today and I am so glad we did. The views rival Zion any day. Wonderful. There are pull-outs all the way along, and there are conveniences in the Visitor's Centre and at the top of the mountain drive.

We did not do Kolob Canyon our first trip to Zion so decided to do it this time. It is a little out of the way but we took the road to Kolob Reservoir in our Jeep and saw some snow. The lake was pretty...More

Would agree with the other travelers on October (would say mid to late). We were there in mid sept and they were just starting to turn - although it was still very beautiful.

It's an 8 or so mile hike from the trailhead, which is a few miles from the park entrance. It's pretty much a full day to see Kolob Arch.

There's a visitors center at the entrance to Kolob Canyon where you're supposed to pay a fee if you don't have an annual pass.
