We ran into a guy who had done Angel's Landing (sigh ... maybe someday) the day before, and he said he thought the view here was better.
That's just crazy and I think he couldn't be more wrong, but it sure does illustrate how compelling...More
The trail head is just outside the tunnel entrance so getting in/out is sometimes difficult if there is a queue. Spaces are also limited so be patient and you'll eventually get a space since this is a relatively short hike (<1 mi). The view from...More
I think this trail provides the best elevated view of the canyon for the least amount of effort. It took less than half an hour to reach the main viewing area with very little elevation change. There are interesting rock formations and colours to see...More
Great hike. We started hiking early in the morning while the sun was reflecting on the mountains. Totally worth it even going up. We had to stop several times to catch out breath but not for the steep -which is moderate- but for the views!!!!...More
If you are looking for a high elevation viewpoint in Zion National Park but you don't want to tackle a strenuous and grueling trail like Observation Point, then the Canyon Overlook Trail is just what you are looking for. The Canyon Overlook Trail is one...More
Went to the Canyon Overlook Trail as our first hike in the park. Was a great introduction to the dramatic scenery of the park, and a nice warm up to stretch our legs and test our hiking poles. Steep drop offs at the end, and...More
This was a fun hike. The trailhead just at the east entrance of the tunnel. There are a couple of small parking lots and parking along the road. We were hiking around a couple of people who were very afraid of heights and they couldn't...More
This is a great short hike to do for an amazing view. The hike/walk takes about 15-20 minutes and brings you to an incredible lookout over the canyon. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Zion as it’s quick and totally worth the stop.
This is a fun hike with a little cave, a little water, a few cliffs/rails, and lots of rocks. Parking is nearly impossible in the busy seasons, and no shuttle runs to the trailhead on the east edge of the park. Park along the road...More

I have done this hike several times but always as the sun is about to set. I believe you are facing west when you look out into the canyon from here. I just posted my review a few days ago with several pictures

You would probably encounter ice that time of year. I hiked it in early April and it was 32 degrees then. At that altitude the likelihood of ice increases. It's a must see lookout and such a beautiful hike. It was the only... More
You would probably encounter ice that time of year. I hiked it in early April and it was 32 degrees then. At that altitude the likelihood of ice increases. It's a must see lookout and such a beautiful hike. It was the only hike in the whole park that I would have done again in the same trip.
Just play it by ear and if you get there later in the day remember the sun could always warm up and melt any ice.

This is a great trail however, there are some very narrow parts with steep drops. That said, sometimes there is a guardrail. Sometimes there is a bit more room to hug the side of the rock. There is a part where a bridge becomes the trail, hugging the side of the mountain. All the steep drops have some sort of protection but visually you will see them.
