This was a fun hike. The trailhead just at the east entrance of the tunnel. There are a couple of small parking lots and parking along the road. We were hiking around a couple of people who were very afraid of heights and they couldn't...More
This is a great short hike to do for an amazing view. The hike/walk takes about 15-20 minutes and brings you to an incredible lookout over the canyon. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Zion as it’s quick and totally worth the stop.
This is a fun hike with a little cave, a little water, a few cliffs/rails, and lots of rocks. Parking is nearly impossible in the busy seasons, and no shuttle runs to the trailhead on the east edge of the park. Park along the road...More
We hit this early in the morning and be prepared to fight for a parking space. It’s a bit steep in places but short. Great views, especially of the switchbacks! We saw a herd of deer near the trail head which attracted a crowd. This...More
We hiked the canyon overlook trail on our way into Zion Natl Park coming from Bryce. If you’re coming into Zion from the east using highway 9, it’s definitely a hike you ought to think about doing as it can be a real hassle trying...More

I have done this hike several times but always as the sun is about to set. I believe you are facing west when you look out into the canyon from here. I just posted my review a few days ago with several pictures

You would probably encounter ice that time of year. I hiked it in early April and it was 32 degrees then. At that altitude the likelihood of ice increases. It's a must see lookout and such a beautiful hike. It was the only hike in the whole park that I would have done again in the same trip.
Just play it by ear and if you get there later in the day remember the sun could always warm up and melt any ice.

This is a great trail however, there are some very narrow parts with steep drops. That said, sometimes there is a guardrail. Sometimes there is a bit more room to hug the side of the rock. There is a part where a bridge becomes the trail, hugging the side of the mountain. All the steep drops have some sort of protection but visually you will see them.
