Exquisite historic river with springs along the busy Via Flamina is this oasis of tranquility and calm. Virgil wrote of its natural beauty where the Emporer Caligula came to worship the River God Clitunno and consult the ancient oracles. One of my favorite places to visit for its serene natural beauty coupled with its ancient origins.

We took our picnic lunch to the Fonti del Clitumno and enjoyed the peaceful setting. The families of white swans and the ducks added to the occasion. The story of the natural spring and the ancient sacred place which was destroyed by an earthquake in 444 make for interesting history. There is a restaurant, a gelateria and a local produce &... We stopped here for a visit and morning tea but I would happily spend a whole day here relaxing and reading a book. Early morning is very quiet and hot days are busier. The entrance fee is very cheap for this sort of peace and quality. Take you camera too!

Ideal walk after lunch : never seen such a clear and transparent water. No bathing possible however.

This is a well maintained park with lakes fed by natural springs. The water is very clear and fresh and attracts many breeding pairs of ducks. There are restaurants nearby or you could take a picnic. Access is a little tricky from Spoleto unless you have a car as there are very few bus and train services. We travelled there... More

We took the train from Spoleto to Campello Sul Clitunno to see the park not really sure what to expect. The train station is about a 2 kilometer walk to the park, all flat and easy. The park itself isn't very large and even at a slow walk, can be navigated in a half hour. Still, it's very pretty, there's... More

Lovely place for short break around the park. Water is super clear. Entrance fee is 3 euros and even it's not that big money I haven't visited inside more than once. I think I was expecting little bit bigger park what it actually is but its beautiful anyways.. Definitely worth to visit.

Well worth the side trip. Quiet, serene. Took some wonderful photos of the springs, the crystal clear water and the swans.

We stopped there as we had plenty time before check in in our resort. About 15 minutes walk around the lake. Swans, some ducks, not much more then this. Just a little nice park. Little fee ( about 2 euros i think pp ) Nice restaurant beside.

Been here many times since I was a small child. As many reviewers have said already, this is a beautiful and peaceful oasis. Unfortunately most of the area has been closed and only a small circuit remains. If you want a relaxing place you will be hard pressed to find better. Bring a blanket and lay down on the grass..... If you like to just sit on a bench and watch the swans and ducks float by in a crystal clear pond with beautiful trees around then you should go here just to relax a little from your day out exploring!
