Kind of a "Bucket List" trip for me. My wife and I drove the whole thing from north to south in a '62 Corvette. (Buzz & Todd eat your hearts out). The condition of the road is great and, with scenic overlooks and hiking trails...More

We rode from Asheville to Grandfather mountain. Lots of nice views but incredibly hazy at spots. We especially enjoyed the tunnels built into the mountain. The area near the Craggy Gardens rest stop was especially pleasant. We stopped off near Linville falls and did some...More

We drove the parkway in the Pisgah area and took many stops. Unfortunately our visit THIS TIME was not long enough to hike and spent more time. We did walk up the Devil's Courthouse (short but a bit steep). Wow, what a view. We picnicked...More

I had the opportunity to drive through Asheville to Cherokee in fall season. That was the most relaxing experience during my 10 weeks stay in North Carolina. The colours of nature is stunning. You can see many waterfalls along the way. It is recommended to...More

If you enjoy beautiful natural scenery, abundant green trees, magnificent views, then this is the place. Plan ahead for a day trip. There are great hiking trails and picnic areas (so bring your own food). Expect it to be 10-20 degrees cooler in the mountains...More

While the speed limit on the parkway is 45, I was worried to drive over 35 with the winding roads. Breath-taking views, take a picnic! Plan hours of driving, well worth it!

Drove from Asheville to Mt. Mitchell. Craggy Gardens was a great stop, climbed up and picnicked in the cool air. Great road for us drivers, can be a little tedious for kids in back seats, but we pulled over at lookouts to break up trip,...More

The Blue Ridge Parkway is a great road trip. It does take some time to get down, but the views make up for it. There are many scenic overlooks and picnic areas along it. Also, check out some of the small towns that are near...More

Hmmm. I would not want to try that...just saying. Lots of sections that would cause me concern. The NPS has a site (I can't link it here) that might help. Good luck!
