The Parkway is one of the best natural wonders that the U.S. has to offer. The views are unparalleled and there are many places to pull off and just take it in or snap a few photo shots.

Breathtaking scenery and lookouts. Dog friendly hiking. The visitor center is very nice (although dogs are not allowed in the visitor center).

What a great drive. Did three separate road trips on three different days from Asheville. Breath taking views. Would highly recommend for the entire family. Even in December with no leaves it was worth it. I really like the lookouts. Its nice to be able...More

I knew I was taking a chance at this time of year and sure enough much of the parkways was closed . But even the limited parts of it that we could access was amazing. One could only imagine how much more it would be...More

My family and I tried two times to access the Blue Ridge Parkway while in the Asheville area. The first day it was cold and snowy, and we came upon an accident near a tunnel, so opted to turn around and try another day. We...More

We experienced a lovely but short drive on the parkway. Unfortunately, we were a little too late for the spectacular fall colors - an excuse for another earlier visit.

I was only on the parkway for a few short miles but it is a beautiful way to get from one side of Asheville to another. Take your time.

We love trips to the mountains and this is less than 3 hours from Charlotte. We tend to do a day trip depending upon how early we get started. The views are amazing and there are lots of things to do nearby. Great for families...More

The parkway is an excellent drive and the beauty is unequal to anywhere I have visited. Usually closed during winter because of the weather. But worth a day trip.

We just did day trips along the parkway, as we stayed in a hotel about 15 minutes away from downtown Asheville. I'm not sure what accommodations are available along the parkway itself, but your best bet would be to use this... More

Tree color is probably all gone but if you love mountains by all means go. Just be aware of the weather. There could be fog at the higher elevations.

Hello T. A. 's . My husband and I will be arriving in Asheville on March 30 2018 with hotel reservations for 3 nights, but could add more. We have reservations for the Biktmore for 9am Sat. March 31. We have Sunday ( Easter) open to explore Asheville will things be open on Easter? We want to explore Blue Ridge Parkway, trying to decide if we should do both the SW and the NE drive from Asheville, We would like to do some short hikes, Are the visitor centers open that first week of April, and what is typically the weather like during that time? Looking at staying in Blowing Rock or Boone one night then head east not sure where yet (we are visiting a cousin in Pinehurst for a day) . We fly out of Charlotte Monday April .9 so we have time to explore some hidden gems in NC, any recommendations are appreciated. Love history, local foods ( possibly a food tour) and short hikes ( less than 5 miles round trip). We have been to the coast so most likely won't go this time. Thank you for your help
