Such a beautiful place today, and a place of such terrible slaughter on D-Day. I arranged my own tour of the Normandy landing beaches and other places of that part of history. I have so much that I could review, all of the beaches, Point Du Hoc, and much more. I think that this type of tour should be on... More

So many sites to see along Omaha Beach. From the beach itself to the American Memorial Cemetery and Visitor Center, to the many gun placements spread throughout the region. Easily spend a few days exploring and discovering the reasons this has such significance for Americans and how the invasion shapes our existence today.

We visited Omaha Beach as part of a tour and I was very moved by the memorial here to the US soldiers who landed on D Day in WWII.

Unbelievable nice beach if you have no idea about the history. We visited in February and it was wet and cold but i imagine it will be really nice in summer. Great wide beach with a lot of space. From the history side its not so much to say. You will see some Bunkers from the Germans but the beach... More

Omaha Beach was another thing on my "bucket list" of WW2 places to see, only had a brief time there unfortunately, the weather was a bit unsettled and it added to it being a very moving experience to actually be standing there where the fierce fighting took place, never made it up to the cemetery but will be heading back... Same as with the American cemetery. Anyone who has a chance to visit Normandy, should see the D-Day landing beaches and reflect upon this very important part of our history. Most of the sites are free to visit.

After visiting the museum at Utah we thought we were prepared for the experience at Omaha. Nothing could have prepared us--nothing! Walking in the German casemates and looking toward the sea recalling how our troops and Allies set out to achieve an objective beyond one's imagination, I nearly fell to my knees. The surrounding area is untouched where bombs dropped.... More

This was a very moving site to visit. It is very sobering to see the expanse of gravesites of American servicemen who died fighting in Europe during and after the Normandy invasion of June 6, 1944. The cemetery is quite extensive with beautifully maintained grounds and many monuments honoring the dead. It is located on a bluff overlooking Omaha beach.

Worth the trip to all of the beach's if your a history buff - the cliffs are amazing, the cemetery's are beautiful and great reminders of sacrifice, the people are welcoming, and if you go during the right time of year can have sunlight till almost 10pm! I will go back again!
