Having read all of Louise Penny's books, I was so excited to go on this tour, but I wondered how my husband would enjoy it. Well, no worries! We both had a fabulous time seeing all of the sights in the brochure, learning the history of the Eastern Townships, and dining at the amazing Maison Hovey. Our tour guide, Patricia, was just the best; informative, entertaining, and engaging. She was able to recommend the best places to buy cider, wines, pastries, and cheeses, and we went to those shops in the days following our tour. Afterward my husband and I reflected that this was one of the best tours we have ever experienced (And we've done a lot of tours!), and we can wholeheartedly recommend that you take this 'official' Three Pines tour.

This Three Pines Tour is the only Louise Penny sanctioned tour and it is everything it promises and more. As my friend stated, "It was beyond!" The tour lasted ten hours and we saw so many of the buildings that were inspiration for many of Louise's books.

We were fortunate enough to hear the organ and Gregorian chanting at the Abbey Benoit- which is the setting for A Beautiful Mystery. Many of us also purchased their own products of smoked blue cheese (heavenly, pun intended!), applesauces, and other treats.

We had a delicious lunch at the Manoir Hovey, which was the setting for The Rule of Murder, and at on the terrace overlooking Lake Massiwippi. The other stops were just as magical and our guide, Patricia, held our attention with her knowledge of Louise, the area, and her humor. It's a tough assignment to hold people in thrall for 10 hours and Patricia did it with aplomb and warmth.

The Eastern Townships are beautiful themselves and worth exploring and learning about them. If you are a Louise Penny fan - this is a tour not to be missed. Louise and Gilles are the tour owners and the tour starts at their Inn, Hillhouse B&B, and we stayed there for two nights (high marks there, too!)

We are 2 couples from Chicago who took the Three Pines tour in August with Patricia. Three of the four of us are Louise Penny fans, but the tour was amazing even for our 4th person. Patricia took us all over the townships, told us endless number of interesting tidbits about Louise, her inspirational places, and other general township information. Patricia was delightful. My strongest memories of this tour are having my first bite of Quebec croissant at the general store, sitting on the veranda at the manor for lunch overlooking the beautiful gardens and water, and “being surprised by joy” on seeing Michael’s bench. Take this tour!

We were fortunate enough to experience the Three Pines Tour earlier this month and it was wonderful. We were able to tour the Eastern Townships and experience the inspiration for Louise Penny’s novels. Our tour guide,
Patricia, is a native of the area and is well informed about the area generally, about Louise Penny specifically, and made us feel welcome (as one would expect to feel when someone finds themselves at Three Pines). The tour was all day, stopping at various sites and included fun surprises along the way. My Mom and I had a wonderful time. Vive Gamache!

This tour was fantastic!! My adult daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed all the scheduled tour events, as well as the extra surprises/details provided by Louise and Gilles. Our raconteur, Lynda, was wonderful. She was a wealth of local knowledge, not just teaching us about the history of the area and locations and inspirations from the books, but also providing details about Louise Penny’s involvement in the community. The 9-hour tour was well-paced, so we still had the energy to socialize informally with our new tour friends for another several hours that evening! We highly recommend this excellent tour!!

Patricia was a perfect guide! Funny and knowledgeable. She took us to many spots Louise Penny had been inspired by when writing her books- churches and homes and bakeries. Yum. We had so much fun. The ultimate high point was that while we were visiting the bookstore, Louise herself came in! We were completely gobsmacked when she asked us if we wanted a picture together. Yeow!
Later we met Gilles and Louise (his wife, not that Louise) who toasted us with wine and cheeses. Thank you for your patience, Patricia, and for sharing so many stories about the Lac-Brome area. A perfect day.

Having no idea what to expect, I was thrilled to have had a wonderful Three Pines kind of day (sans murder.) Our guide, Lynda, was knowledgeable, engaging, full of all kinds of facts and wisdom that makes this kind of tour fulfilling, but also, and most importantly, a fan of Louise Penny’s books. Lynda was clearly one of us! Thank you for a truly enjoyable day.

My sister-in-law and I gave our moms the Three Pines Tour as a Christmas present. We had a wonderful time on our tour in June, our guide and the hosts were kind, knowledgeable and a delight to spend time with. We felt taken care of right from the beginning of the day. I would highly recommend it to any Gamache fans.

This is a Must for Louise Penny, Chief Inspector Gamache fans. The recontour (guide-Lynda) was a veteran and the trainee (Jean-Luc) was actually an Eastern Townships local, well versed on the sites and roads. They took us to all the locations listed on the tour brochure. They spent oodles of time explaining the connection between the sites, the Gamache books, and the local history. I was blown away by the 5 Star Plus Manor Hovey, the Abbey, the Knowlton Museum and fell in love with the churches, cheeses and bakery goodies. Then there was my fav: the Lac Brome Books book store. Where if luck is with you, you may see Ms. Penny or her puppy. If not, you'll be able to soak up a real book store with real book store owners Deny, Lucy, and be sure to pet Watson, their dog. The tour ended with wine and cheese (local, of course) at the home of the Three Pines Tour operators, Gillis and Louise, Their hospitality and conversation was gracious and lively. The whole day was pure joy.

The Three Pines Tour and our guide, Lynda, more than exceeded our expectations. Lynda's gracious, friendly and knowledgeable commentary was nothing short of fabulous! In the many hours we spent together, Lynda did a wonderful job of creating an atmosphere of everything Three Pinesish and then some. We are so happy we included this tour on our trip to the Eastern Townships!
