The visit to Villa Lante in Bagnaia was full of interesting intellectual stimuli for me. At the ticket office I noticed how the same state that rightly requires commercial establishments to use the POS does not accept card payments but only requires cash (yes, the Villa is state-owned and managed by the Ministry). Oh, and possibly for the exact amount, otherwise the cashier might not have the change, and then no entry. The ticket is 8 euros per person, which at the time of payment becomes nine for the contribution to flood victims (why write eight then?). Buying tickets in advance online (we are in 2023, in a country that thrives on tourism) is obviously not possible. It's almost funny, if it weren't grotesque (and what if I drive 100 km and can't find the tickets?). At the entrance there are three staff to check tickets (in addition to the cashier from before), but no one can be seen inside the park. Well, perhaps they felt that given the deterioration of the monuments, even in the event of damage by someone there is no need to worry too much. The villa (i.e. the park) is a jewel, but the buildings cannot be visited, except exceptionally, and everything would need a complete restoration or at least ordinary maintenance. What can I say, if you want to subsidize the disastrous Italian state and spend an hour among the wonders of the past, the visit is recommended. But then don't complain if tourists go elsewhere.

Very beautiful and very well organised. Parking lots and walking routes should be better indicated. To visit it all you need to book at least one day in advance, this way you can also visit the two rooms that overlook the garden.

Beautiful villa just visited as a family.
We took advantage of the first Sunday of the month when admission was free. Beautiful, manicured gardens, must have been beautiful in its full force when they lived there and the fountains were fully functional. After visiting the gardens and apartments on the ground floor we went to explore the woods where we saw the casino hunting a rare snowdrop, as well as other fountains.
I recommend this perfect place for couples, families and friends.

Splendid Italian garden, very beautiful fountains in a truly large and evocative park, a real jewel.
We were unable to fully visit the two Pat Lanzinis because a reservation was required which we were unable to make. We kindly asked the tour leader to show us the main floors since it was still opening hours. The ticket also includes the visit, but we received a rather flat denial.
I would like to underline that at the entrance the person in charge of selling tickets was very professional in asking us for documents, cards, but absolutely absolutely rude. We wanted to pay with a debit card and the structure is not equipped with a POS, furthermore the person was not able to scan the QR code of our discount cards

A few kilometers from Viterbo, there is Bagnaia with its splendid Villa Lante. An alternation of fountains, gardens, parks and villas was commissioned by Cardinal Gian Francesco Gambara and completed by Alessandro Montalto. Both the visit to the garden and the guided tour of the buildings are highly recommended."

A Villa surrounded by greenery with many fountains each with its own historical meaning, the garden cut to perfection makes it even more beautiful. It's a shame that you can't go to some parts because they need to be fixed up. Very interesting to visit, I recommend it.

A visit that proved fascinating! The gardens and buildings are worth a couple of hours: it is an immersion in another historical era. Much appreciated in particular the comments and descriptions by the staff on the site, also prepared to answer questions of various kinds! A special commendation goes to Ileana, very communicative, prepared and nice: she added another positive element. Also great Claudia and Alessia who provided useful comments.

Rude, inadequate and unprepared staff. No information during the
ticket, they saw us with a stroller and they didn't even have the delicacy to inform us that the Villa was tall and you couldn't get around with the stroller because there were steps everywhere.
My wife, who is a teacher, had to pay the full ticket because they didn't accept the payslip shown for the current month... shocking. Only here all these problems.
However, the price is €8 + €1 for the floods in Romagna (we appreciate it but let us know beforehand),
The Villa takes just 1 hour to get around and is absolutely not worth the price of the ticket.
Not happy, I want to reiterate the poor tourist reception.

One of the most beautiful villas I have visited. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained, the view from above is magnificent.
The entrance ticket has a normal price I’m sorry only that they adopt absurd rules, arranged as they please... the discounted ticket everywhere is for young people aged 18 to 25 inclusive, only here then at the cashier (not on the site) you specify that the 25 years must not be turned... then write from 18 to 24, or adopt the rules of all!

The owners would have you start at the bottom of the garden, but it is best experienced starting at the top and going down. I walked around through the adjacent Villa Lante park and then scaled the locked gate at the top. This is the best of the Renaissance-era villa gardens in the region. I recommend not trying to stay in Bagnaia.

Hello I want to visit Villa Lante, Bagnaia near Viterbo. I found information online regarding an older train service that runs between Rome Flaminio station and to Bagnaia on the FC3 but it appears to run 5 times but only on Sundays. Is this correct? It is said to take longer than the trains but the scenery is to be enjoyed on the way. Has anyone travelled to Villa Lante using this service?

In un'ora visiti tutto il palazzo ha solo due stanze visitabili il giardino è bello ma si visita in mezz'ora, poi c'è il parco adiacente che è grandissimo se trovi una bella giornata e ti piace la natura puoi fare una bella passeggiata.
