A great Antiguan beach on the Caribbean Sea side. Big turquoise swells with strong wave action. Minimal shade unless you hang out at the beach restaurant. Parking along side the beach just off the main road is easy. We were visiting as high season was...More

Darkwood is located right next to the main road which makes it not the most suitable place if you are looking for seclusion, However, it's still a plus being that it's accessibly via public Bus system. there is a nice Beach bar on site of...More

While Ffryers beach probably is a little better it's crowded and has those ugly floats there. On the other hand, Darkwood is almost as good as Ffryers and has almost no one here and has a simple nice beach shack and a small stall by...More

We stayed near Jolly Harbor during the middle week of April. We visited most of the beaches along the Caribbean side near Jolly. Darkwoods had the best beach combing and was one of the least crowded. Did not have any jet ski locals trying to...More

Jolly beach area is the part nearest St. John's that has snorkeling. TBH, dark wood beach isn't the best area for snorkeling around coral.

Sorry - I don't know the answer to this question as we always have our own transport. I would say it's about 15/20 mins in a cab from St. John's port - hope that helps?
