Stunning beach which we chose deliberately so as not to be with crowds. Arriving at 8.30am, we were only ones there until a couple of local families arrived mid morning. Typical Antiguan beach! White sand and warm sea with safe and lovely swimming. The sea was very sandy when we were there so nothing to see when snorkelling. Beach bar/restaurant on hillside looked nice and opened at 12 but menu looked quite expensive (we were able to use their loos!!) so we went elsewhere for lunch. $25 taxi round trip for 2 people from John’s.

When we come to Antigua there is only one place we go - Ffryes Beach. One of the best beaches on any island in the caribbean. 10$ cab ride from the pier - $20 for 2 chairs and an umbrella and make sure you go to Dennis’ Restaurant and ask for Jay!

We had a lovely day out with on Ffyes beach, we were on a cruise but wanted to get away from other cruisers and find a quiet beach. We chose to get a taxi on our own $40 one way however would be much cheaper as they offer car sharing up to about 12 persons. When we got there Sean AKA Bubbles sorted us with 2 chairs and umbrella for $20. Very safe and little stalls to get drinks and a couple of restaurants/bars on beach. Perfect relaxing day out away from the crowds.

This review is for Little FFreyes beach, which we found to be much better than the main Ffreyes beach.

We went to beaches on the western side of Antigua: Dickensen, Jolly, Valley Church, Ffreyes, Little Ffrreyes and Darkwood. All beaches are good with few differences. Water color is turquoise everywhere and sand is soft and white.

Jolly beach is by far the best beach in Antigua. Soft, white sand and very long and wide beach with gentle slopes. Waves are gentle but still there. Decent mix between being peaceful but still having people around. Another great things was green hills on the back.

Dickensen Bay was also good but we found it was too busy and also it was not as wide or long as Jolly beach.

Valley Church beach had steep slope and was actually very narrow. Also sand was not firm on the slopes. But water was more clearer than Jolly and Dickensen.

Little Ffreyes was also very lovely, perhaps #2 beach in my opinion. Was wider than Valley Church, water was very clear and waves gentle. It wasn't too crowded and had also trees. Nice for someone who wants to spend some relaxing and peaceful time on the beach.

Ffreyes and Darkwood beaches had very strong waves, and good for those who prefer that.

We went here on a cruise stop. We’ve been to Valley Church beach before and found the beach busy and it has a very big drop off from sand to water

But Ffryes was wonderful. Very secluded, wide beach and there was a drop off but not very deep.

We will be back

This morning, the last of the holiday, the choice of the beach fell on Ffryes Beach for no particular reason. Never chosen was more apt because the beach was half deserted, there were only a couple of umbrellas occupied within a radius of two hundred meters. At the southern end of the beach there is a resort that must have had few holidaymakers. In addition to being very uncrowded, the beach is of fine sand and the sea in front is deep blue although not exactly transparent; however, there are no algae on the bottom.

I’ve been to hundreds of beaches in my life and this one may just be #1. Incredibly warm water, clear, unbelievable blue waters and soft, pristine sand. Absolutely stunning. Two beach chairs and an umbrella for $20. Reasonable.

The actual beach is beautiful and our port driver, Jan was friendly and timely, but this beachfront facility is mediocre and run down - definitely needs an upgrade. The lunch included with our package tasted just ok. We lined up for food and it was served to us but there were no seconds and only two drinks included. When I asked for another drink (all non alcoholic), I was told no more free drinks, I’d have to pay.

Beach side restaurant/ bar. No frills but friendly service and amazing food. No menu, so we were offered BBW chicken and rice and fruit/ rum punch. USD30 for all 4 of us and the food comparable with the other restaurants which have cost USD150

This magnificent beach with white sand is rarely visited. The water is turquoise and calm, perfect for young children. There are also shaded areas if needed. When we went there, there were no shops open nearby other than the restaurant at the other end of the beach, so you have to remember to have drinks and snacks.
