I went to this chruch for Sunday services, knowing that most of the service would be in Dutch, and that I don't speak or understand a single word of Dutch! Nonetheless, the service does include a song or two in English, and some of the songs sung in Dutch are familiar to English speakers, like "A Mighty Fortress" and "Just as I am". Worship of our risen Lord does not rest (thank goodness) on the language of the kips, but the words of the heart. The pastor, after giving the sermon in Dutch, gave a recap in English. While it would have been nice to have a service in English as a Protestant church in Aruba, this was not at all a bad substitute, and I recommend it for any Christian who would like to attend services while in Aruba.

The island of Aruba is 70% Roman Catholic, but nice to know that there is a Protestant presence also. The people of Aruba are warm and friendly, which reflects their devotion to family, country, and God. We loved our brief stay their, including the spiritual components.

The Protestant Church is located downtown behind the Renaissance Hotel. We enjoyed the service very much. Service begins at 10:30 am every Sunday.

Service was in Dutch as this is one of the main languages of Aruba. We do not speak the language, but some songs were in English and one can follow the Dutch words to familiar hymns. The couple sitting next to me helped me through the service. And the minister is amazing. Welcomed pew by pew all who came. One little girl came in and ran up to him with a big grin and waving hello. So the minister obviously has great connection with all ages of his congregation. only suggestion might be to have the English translation on the screen to the Dutch order of service hand-out. Felt very blessed, even not understanding some of the songs, could follow in my English Bible the verses, just a reminder Christians speak many languages and we will all understand each other perfectly in Heaven.

The original Protestant Church, which has been restored, was built in 1846. It was in use until 1950. In 1988 it was restored. It is now used for special events. That church is not used for Sunday services. It is in the background of the current church which has services in Dutch. It would be nice for either English bulletins to be available, or to have the message on the screen in English.

Most of Aruba's churches are Catholic so it was well worth tracking down The Protestant Church for the Sunday morning service, held at 10:30 am, mostly in Dutch, but some English, so we could participate and guess the rest. We took the public bus from Manchebo Beach (Alhambre Casino stop) to downtown Oranjestad for $2.30 each. It has a great shell and Bible collection and friendly pastor. We loved the pulpit -- it's half boat with a fishing net! We later found out there's an all-English service in Seroe Colorado, south of San Nicolas (which you can get to by bus).

My wife and I love to visit churches in various ports and this one was quite beautiful. The organist happened to be practicing while we were there today which provided a great atmosphere. I was hoping to contact someone from the church but can only find a phone number. Was hoping for an email as I am out of country.

This is a beautiful church in Oranjestad. Lovely surrounding. It was closed when we were there (they don't do tours or have it open to the public), but someone let us in as my grandfather used to preach there in the 1950s (I'm from Canada). It is quite beautiful inside if you can get a chance to see it.

As we were walking around town, we saw this church. Unfortunately it was closed off by a fence.......no way to get in. Too bad for us as it did look interesting from the outside.
