If you are in the area it is nice to see. There is a small stiarcase so you can climb to stand on the top. The view is very nice.

We always ride out to Gates Fort because the view across the cut that the cruise ships come through emphasizes how skilled the captains must be - it is so narrow! On our last visit it was obvious the parks department has missed taking care of this special place. Lots of debris, but still worth a visit. Good place for... More

Short walk from town. No facilities. Could make money selling water and iced drinks. Very nice views. Small cove. Sign showing local aquatic life

The walk from fort st Catherine here is absolutely wonderful. The gates fort used is just a small structure but being one of the oldest forts in the island it is significant.

This is a lovely spot to stop along the Cut Road in St. Georges. The fort is small and easy to explore, no crowds or admission fee. The views of the churning water on the rocks below is impressive. From St. George's it's about a mile walk, and you can do a nice 3 mile loop from town along Cut... More

worth giving this a 10 min stop! great views of the ocean and the some huge cannons to look at and pose with. The cannons are the type that can shoot further than the horizon! Be careful of the cliff with small children. Even Though it is not wheelchair accessible our tour guide drove the van out into the park.

The views from this fort are spectacular. There aren't crowds so you are not rushed like other places which is great. From the fort you will see the reefs and realize just how naturally protected this country is.

We took the railway tour, which we highly recommend, to see these forts at this end of St George. Gates is wonderful from the standpoint of how old it is, keeping in mind this area is where the first settlers landed here. But you also can't beat the views from here.

This small fort is one of those linking the defences of St George's Harbour. After the gate house there is only a small block house and two cannon to be seen, with no explanatory material. Even though the forts had inter-locking arcs, it is surprising that there was no embrasure allowing guns to be trained on the narrow channel itself.... More
