Had a quick visit in this area on my way to catch a catamaran for the day. Please do yourself a favor and catch a taxi driver and negotiate a 1 to 2 hour tour of the island.

An easy walk from the cruise port, the Careenage as expected is on the waterfront and worth taking in while doing a self-guided tour of Bridgetown but nothing special.

Even merely passing by this location brings pleasure. A beautiful place to see and take pictures. Shows the pride and beauty of Barbados.

Bridgetown in March, a wonderful place, very much warmer than the UK. We walk along the seawall from the Cruise Terminal, then walk past the Careenage with all its activity, over the Pedestrian Bridge to the Boatyard

Nice spot, but essentially a marina. Curacao is much more interesting, as you can see where they careened the ships and they have the swinging bridge.

Not necessarily a long visit but worth visiting as The Careenage represents to centre of Bridgetown, and is home to the Chamberlain Bridge and waterfront, as well as National Heroes Square and Parliament. We stopped for a bite to eat in the Marina Bar and...More

The Careenage is not big. It has a few shops around but mostly store fronts for the charter boats. It's a nice place to walk around a little and take a few snaps. I don't understand some of the other comments about the cruise ships....More
