This is a relatively small, quiet beach, with calm clear water and average snorkeling. There is an area of the beach that has a lot of rocks, but those can be avoided by walking down a little ways. We did not eat at La Cabane, but it seems to be quite popular and has a nice, slightly more upscale menu. At some point we would have tried it.
As another reviewer mentioned, there are many manchineel trees, clearly marked with red bands and warning signs. It's easy to avoid them and with the warnings, you know to not touch or eat anything from that tree.
One thing that makes this beach interesting are the many coral and limestone sculptures or cairns made without using any cement or other adhesive. They are made by a local Bajan artist. Anyone can certainly try their hand at making one too.
This is an excellent beach for sunsets!

After our excursion was cancelled during a cruise stop here we went to a tour desk and a guy highly recommended this place. What a dump!!! Looks nothing like the pictures on the brochure. We were told there’s a “high end” beachfront restaurant. Not the case at all! Our driver dropped us off and we were yelled at by the restaurant staff saying they weren’t open yet while they rudely shooed us away. There are signs saying the trees with the red rings are poisonous and that if it rains and water drips on your skin off those trees it will cause blistering. Well-if there were only a few of those trees that wouldn’t be an issue. However, they’re everywhere! They pretty much overhang the whole beachfront. It was likely to rain that day so this was a relevant issue! There were barely any beach chairs. The “high end” restaurant was a typical beach bar...not high end by any means. We don’t need high end for a day on the beach but the misrepresentation about the beach and restaurant was disappointing. We did expect not to be rudely yelled at for simply walking by the bar while checking out the beach and trying to see if there was a good spot to sit. We were not the only visitors to get into another taxi and leave this place after seeing it and all the disappointment it has to offer.

Batt’s beach is NOT good for snorkelling. Hardly any coral, very little fish, waste of time. It has a rocky bottom and it was wavy that day which made it hard to get out with flippers, etc. without being thrown into the rocks. The restaurant had good food but it was pricey.

Great beach, it was not over populated with sun beds available, (if Kai decided to turn up). Plenty of shade if not to lay your towels. Toilet facilities and a restaurant available (very expensive).
No water sports, which is a plus for us.
The sea is wonderful with waves crashing in, a bit rocky in places to get in but there are places where you can get in on sand. No real need for pool shoes. Also turtles regularly swimming past in the shallows. Other than that snorkelling is not the best.
We visited a lot of beaches on the island and found this one to be the best.
For those that like a stroll, we even walked right into Bridgetown all on the beach.
If we ever go back to Barbados this would be the beach where I would head.

Found this by chance, great sand and although wavy lovely for a dip. Great bar beside (albeit pricey). Sadly it is located beside the trees with poisonous fruit so you can't sit near the beach bar on the beach....

Tucked away beach with plenty of free parking. A hidden unspoilt gem. Quiet with few people around. Snorkelling not great but a sandy beach and sandy underwater. La Cabane beach restaurant alongside.

I love this beach because of the isolation..not much for a beach with tons of people on it. Just be wary of your surroundings and cautious of your belongings if leaving them by a high fence surrounding an "abandoned" hotel. Water clear, beautiful the part of the beach I went..have to walk some way though from the public facilities.

secluded beach with no facilities so come prepared, beautiful swimming area, plenty shade, watch the local fisherman cast there nets for bait. Very quiet and peaceful. You do get the odd party boat passing by, which adds to the fun.

We live near Batts Rock, and were warned it is a very dangerous place. Most places in Barbados are not safe, but we find this beach one of the less crowded, more quiet, and more relaxing. Occasionally, you'll be entertained by small monkeys playing in the trees which are quite fun to watch. On one occasion we saw a car with windows bashed in, but that can happen anywhere. This beach also has security which I don't think many beaches do.

You won't find high end lounge chairs here and bedside rum punch service. But you'll find local families, some surfers and a few tourists who have heard that this is the cutest beach around. There is easy swimming with smooth, sandy bottom on the north end and some reef close in on the south end. The south end of the beach is rockier with reef pools, waves, shade trees almost to the surf in places. There is a very clean bathroom, a shower, parking and many picnic tables. We noticed security services as well as life guards on duty. Don't be put off by the dilapidated appearance of some structures nearby. Use common sense with your belongings...as you would at any beach.

Hi,
Does the Four Seasons construction site spoil the beach or is it hidden?
Also, are there any bars or shops nearby?
Many thanks.

We are considering staying at an apartment near Batts Rock Beach in June but are worried that building work/road construction will spoil our holiday. Can anyone advise if this might be an issue? Thanks.

I was there in March and regularly visited this beach and there is no actual building work taking place and hasn't been for some time. I was told by one of the locals that the developers have gone bust and the building work may continue if a buyer is found. It seemed in their opinion that it would take many months if not years. All the construction is safely zoned off and isn't on the beach anyway and doesn't affect access to the beach. I wouldn't worry about it. Hope that helps.

There is no hotel accommodation near Batts Rock. This area is on the Spring Garden Highway and the nearest hotel accommodation would be up the west coast. There are apartments that can be rented I can think if the Freshwater Bay flats and the Waverly (not recommended). Then a bit further up the road you get to Fitts Village there will be accommodation in that area. Hope this helps
