Jamal Ifill had some beautifully crafted blown glass pieces. I will shop there again! We visited several other shops and did find a few unique copper jewelry, however about 1/3 of the shops were closed when we were there.

Interesting shopping center - different shops to look at. I enjoyed going in and out of different retailers. Some have the same items others completely different. Worth a look.

We have been to Barbados many times over the years and love this craft center--it has beautiful LOCALLY made crafts, often times for sale by the actual artisan! The craft center is a series of small shops...like an outdoor mall. TIP: There are a few different buildings in the complex, so if you get to the end of one building,... More

Exactly our retail style, the authentic Pelican Craft Center, between downtown and the cruise-ship port, consists of a dozen artisans’ stores and workshops. We bought a ceramic replica of a uniquely Barbadian chattel house as a souvenir of another excellent adventure in the West Indies.

Most shops were open and owners were very nice and helpful. My favorite was Aziphos Creations, beautiful handcrafted jewelry which i purchased for myself and gifts!

We are into our craft work and so were very disappointed when we went to Pelican to find most of the places were shut and the ones that were open just had the usual touristy things that could be found anywhere on the island. Dont waste your time here, and try to get to Earthworks or Batik where you can... More

We walked north from the Parliament building in Bridgetown to get to this "village" of small shops (about 1/2 mile). The walk can be very hot, depending on the time of day. Most (not all) of the small shops have locally hand-made, non-mass-produced art and crafts for sale. If you take the time to talk to the vendors, you will... More

Adverts suggested this was the first destination of cruise ship visitors, to see the best of Barbados' arts and crafts. Not sure whether simply "closed because it was Thursday" - not mentioned in any advertising but one shop had a sign out saying it was closed on a Thursday - or generally out of season so no-one around, but at... If you want to meet some of the nicest local artists and shop keepers, go to Pelican Craft Center. this is the place to find locally made souveniers. This is a little "outdoor mall" featuring many different kinds of shops. I went to the Monkey Pot and bought some beautiful local pottery, made by Maggie Bell. I also visited the... More
