- martin dLeicester, United Kingdom2 contributionsFantastic Hotel but dodge the Italian Restaurant.I've visited the hotel before, but never stayed, although we've been holidaying in Barbados for 30 years. We are actually still at the resort. The hotel is lovely, the staff very friendly, its also very clean. The beach is great, and the reported sea weed problem is not really a problem, so don't let reviews put you off. We are happy to find that the on site shop is not a rip off like most hotel shops and carries a decent fresh range of food and drink. The breakfast at L'Azure is top level, the bar food also very good. The down side is that the Italian restaurant food is awful, l recommend that you side step this at all costs, we should have sent our food back but we didn't. My wife left most of her's yet the waiter, after l pointed out just said she "would tell the chef" then nothing else said. We are booked into the beach bbq tonight and it looks promising. Overall it's a great place and will definitely stay again. Another slight problem, although the staff at the bar are really good, there are not enough waiting staff so it can take quite a while to be served.... l will add to my review after we return home.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten March 19, 2024
- billybob101Vancouver, Canada665 contributionsParadise on EarthIf you’re looking for a review of the Crane Resort - look up my soon to come review of that - this review is for the beach itself - and what a beach it is! Framed by eroding cliffs, and lush greenery, this really is paradise. Icing sugar white sand, it’s more of a boogie boarding beach that will keep you kids entertained for hours. The crane resort has a beach side restaurant called “the grove” that has drinks, snacks / lunch. Was never overly busy when we were here. A decent swimming beach, not a snorkeling option. Enjoy!!Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten March 28, 2024

You can walk out into the water forever &see everyt hing. Coconut trees with someone always willing to cut you one down. Caves to explore & the fisherman coming in right out of the water with the fresh fish for the restaurant. It doesn't get much better than thisVisited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten May 18, 2024

Found excellent reviews of this chap before we arrived and sourced him with our Concierge for our 3 different trips around the island. He was chatty, friendly, courteous and listened to what we wanted to see including Holetown & Speightstown along the west coast as well as Harrison's Cave and many places we would never have found ie Sharkhole. Nothing seemed too much trouble. He is obviously passionate about his native island giving us lots of local info along the way. For anyone needing a taxi or tour do yourself a favour and ask for EZB tours . So, a great big thank you to Ezra for helping to make our holiday memorable 🤩Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten May 28, 2024

After roughly 6 days of quarantine we finally got out of the room. You are only allowed on the beaches from 6AM to 9AM and from 3pm to 6pm at this time due to the country's covid restrictions. The Crane beach had a large amount of seaweed on the beachfront. No chairs or umbrellas were provided to the guests. I ended up paying around $25usd one way for taxis to go to different beaches that were better kept.

A family member was held at gun point a couple blocks from this beach walking home from their dinner. They took their cash after pointing a gun at them and they were wearing ski masks. Then we decided it wasn’t safe so we packed up and as we were loading in they circled around and stopped infront of our driveway.
Our air bnb was 3 blocks away from the restaurant ( very close to crane beach) and we thought it seemed safe but had an eerie feeling the whole trip. After moving air bnbs we learned there is a ghetto very close to there. Near limpet ave

Crane Beach is in front of the Hilton Resort. While this does mean it won't be a secluded beach experience, it does mean there will be loungers, umbrellas and a beach bar with restrooms. Also we hear the seaweed is cleaned from the beach daily.
This beach does tend to have consistent waves. During our visit there were people who did get in the water and battled the waves.
You can walk to the far end of the beach to get away from the crowd if that is what you prefer. We also heard that some people climb up the rocks at the far end of the beach and jump off the cliff into the water. We didn't try this during our visit because the water was too rough (we visited during surf season).
We visited a total of 8 beaches during our visit. If you are interested in some video footage from Crane Beach and several others, check out our Barbados video on our YouTube channel Explorcation. The link is in our bio. It was posted in March 2020.

We decided to visit as we were in the area and had heard about the beautiful pink tinged beach. We were hugely disappointed. It was a bit of a trek to the beach but it was a concrete path that seemed relatively new so it was safe. There are some beautiful cliffs at the far end of the beach but other than that (and the rolling ocean) I did not see the appeal. The beach was mainly full of guests from The Crane resort on the cliff above. The sea was so rough that I would not have enjoyed a relaxing swim. It would have been spent battling the waves! Not my idea of fun. We did not see anywhere to get a drink or any facilities silica as toilets but to be fair we didn’t look too hard as we weren’t there long. We were going to start the trail around the path at the far end but there was a big sign saying it could be dangerous and the path looked dodgy so we didn’t risk it especially in just flip flops! It may have just been is but there was no pink tinge to the sand…? wouldn’t recommend it as a place to visit for people unless they happen to be passing.

Back again after years of abstance . nice upgrades and new stores and buildings.
The beach has sea weed washed up and being cleaned as we dine. Use bus service on mid week days only. This is a Canadian owned resort but dining/bar did not know what a ceaser drink was, Bloody Mary we can make. go figure Canadian owned . I told them to go to MoJoes for a ceaser they make great ones. Good lunch meals here. Until next time.

We went in Jan/Feb and this beach was awful. Covered in seaweed, cannot go swimming as it’s too rough. It’s advertised as ‘pink beach’ but it’s not at all pink. Very disappointed, a waste of a morning. Wouldn’t recommend. Also if you’re thinking of staying at the Crane resort, be warned… it’s in the middle of nowhere so make sure you do your research first!
If you want a beautiful beach go to Carlisle bay or Folkestone marine reserve.

I spent four days looking at the different blues that conform this amazingly beautiful beach, while staying at The Crane Hilton Resort. The sand is like baby powder but the waves are strong as a bull. I was happy getting into the water and enjoying my time there. So worth it!

Gorgeous little beach so quiet an peaceful. Bar service, snack service available. I barely had to speak before the guy in the hit was bringing me another cocktail.
Yes there is seaweed but they clean it up every day. The sea has a nice gradual slope to deeper water but be aware whilst I enjoyed be a strong swimmer out in deeper water or the waves will knock you over. Body surfing and bobbing on the waves was great fun tho.
Locals come to the beach at weekends but they only add to the atmosphere.
Be sure and ask Ray Ray for a coconut drink 😊

Going to Barbados and wonder if crane resort allows non guests? Do any cruise excursions go there? Thanks.
Written February 25, 2020
The beach at Crane is public. The restaurants and bars at Crane resort are open to the public. You CAN'T use the beach chairs and umbrellas that belong to Crane resort guests. BUT there are chairs/umbrellas for hire.
Written February 26, 2020
Do you have to be staying at the Crane resort to access the beach? If not, is there a charge to use the beach or for parking?
Written April 28, 2019
Is the sand really pink? If googled, it says it's pink but I don't see anyone mentioning it in their reviews.
Written April 4, 2018
No, definitely not pink. Lovely beach though.

what is the cost for use of the infinity pool and jacuzzi for non crane guests?
Written August 6, 2017
I believe they have a day pass you can buy at the front desk that runs around $40 (BBD) or $20 (US) the last I heard. I think you can use the common area pools which includes the jacuzzi but, may be limited to their beach. The have a beach bar and restaurant. They may not offer it at peak season because the resort is so busy. You may want to email them and get the real information from them. Also look at tripadvisor it has a link where someone posted information. You may just send The Crane an email and get the information directly so it is accurate.

How far is it from the Sandals resort to Crane Beach? What is the best way to get there?
Written May 7, 2017
About half an hour by car or a couple of hours by bus with transfers and such. if you don't have a car you are probably better off arranging for a taxi with your hotel.
Written May 8, 2017
If we are going to visit via cruise ship, we port at 9 am, will there still be chairs and umbrellas available if we don't arrive until 10 am or can you make reservations in advance?
Written April 1, 2017
Yes, there will most likely be chairs available. There are guys who bring lounge chairs and rent them out so there should be plenty available. Also, I suggest you order lunch from Cutters. They will deliver to the Crane Beach. They have the best rum punch on the island and really good flying fish cutters, delivered right to you.

Hi Angela,
My family and I are traveling to Barbados over Easter. There are 17 of us going, 8 adults,9 children, The children range in age from 13 to 16. We want to visit Crane beach, but want to make sure we can spend the day with loungers, access to food and beverages and not feel like we are unwelcome hangers on at the resort. We will most likely try to have lunch or cocktails at the Crane resort. Do you have any tips on the best way to enjoy the beach without being a Crane Resort guest.
Thanks so much.

Visitors to the Crane are welcome. They can hire chairs and umbrella ($20 for a day for 2 chairs and one umbrella). Food and beverages are available in the beach bar.
One can go to the Carriage House restaurant for lunch and snacks and enjoy the infinity pool as well as the large outdoor Jacuzzi. It is best to go on a sunny and breezy day, so check the weather before you go. The beach, although nice and white, is not one of the ten best beaches as claimed and it had loads of seaweed scattered around when we were there last November. Nevertheless, visiting the Crane is an excellent day out.

How long is a cab ride and the price from the cruise port to Crane Beach?
Written March 2, 2017
30-40 minutes as I remember. The cab was $14 per person round trip. Diver offered to get paid when he came back to pick us up. On the way back we stopped in Bridgetown for shopping. Driver agreed to come back for us in an hour at a spot downtown. See my previous review.

Hi,
We are staying in a house in Saint Philip - are the public allowed to use crane beach or is it only open to The Crane hotel guests?
Thanks :)
Written May 25, 2016
I don't believe you can access Crane Beach through their grounds unless you are staying there. I had friends who went to lunch there and they were specifically told that they could not go to the beach or the pools. I believe you can park north of their and walk down and enjoy the beach. I suggest calling the place and asking them. Hope this helps
