It was raining on Sunday Father's day and most of the stores were closed. People were just walking around.

This plaza is full of life, art, live music and many restaurants. Absolutely stunning in the evening. Kids playing, families drinking coffee and cerveza - quintessential Havana !

The cathedral is beautiful and full of history; the huge, solid wood doors with the iron door knockers transport you back to the 18th century. The artifacts and paintings in the building are beautiful and so is the square where this cathedral is located. It's...More

You can't visit Havana without seeing this beautiful Cathedral. There is a bazaar in the plaza on the weekends. There is a dress code. You can't walk through with hats, short shorts or tank tops. Remember it is a church.

Absolutely gorgeous place to see! There were ladies in traditional clothing that you could take a picture with. Also a handsome older man all dressed up for pictures.

This is the oldest part of Havana and requires a few hours of slow walking and looking. The Cathedral is open to the public. Block after block of old (maybe area crumbling) buildings. Great places to eat and drink.

How close is the pier to the Plaza? We are arriving on a cruise ship from Florida and are not sure whether we want to take a shore excursion or walk around town on our own. Thanks for all input - it will certainly be appreciated. Karen

Once you disembark you'll want to walk rather than take a tour. There are interesting lanes to walk along which will lead to the cultural centre of Havana. I enjoyed walking along the waterfront and the ferry terminal is... More
