    Fantastic experience!
I travelled to Cato blanco on a catamaran tour with my family, we were 3 adults and a teenager. We booked with Tui but apparently lots of providers offer this tour. It was so amazing I would do it again! We got collected by coach from the hotel and it’s about a 25 min trip to the harbour. The catamaran was pristine and the crew and captain so welcoming and funny. I have seen some reviews that talk about the noise and the music but that wasn’t my experience at all. It was clear it was a fun experience so if you want a completely tranquil boat ride then this isn’t for you. However the music set the tone for the ride, it took about 90 mins to get to the snorkel site, and whilst fun everyone took safety really seriously and made sure everyone stayed safe in the water. The fish were amazing and the sea so warm. Then it was on to Cayo Blanco. A true tropical paradise! We had a superb buffet. Again I had seen reviews about the food but we had no complaints. Plenty of fresh salad, vegetables and the seafood was amazing! The bar was included on board and on the island. Cocktails were extra but I’d highly recommend a Pina Colada coconut! It was $8 and worth every penny!! We had about 3 hours on the island which has sun beds and again the warmest most beautiful sea. The trip back as just as smooth with a snack and more drinks if you wanted them. There was some dancing and music at the end but there were some that didn’t do it and that was no problem. Be sure to tip as the crew and captain were amazing!

    Paradise!!
Visited Cayo Blanco with my Fiancée while we were on holiday in Cuba and have to say what an amazing island this was! The beach/sea and palm trees were like something from the bounty advert! The animals on the island were also quite amazing,to see them casually walking amongst people was quite surreal at times. Definitely recommend a visit here if on holidays in Cuba, you won't regret it

    Paradise island
The most stunning island and sea. White sands, turquoise sea and palm trees. We went on a catamaran family trip. The food and drinks were excellent. Would definitely return. Beautiful island

Worth the catamaran trip to chill on the beach and be fed
Went to the island via catamaran. Snorkelling on route was cancelled due to strong waves but island was ok. You could imagine you were the only ones on it. Trip included drinks and meal. Bar was small and beer tap not working, but hey ho. Food was very good… rice again… bit big bit of lobster and lots of meat. Not chaotic queueing but got there. Couple of hours on the island sunbathing and then back via catamaran. Worth doing if you want some different scenery. Catamaran was nice… was definitely not a ‘booze cruise’ as pre you’d reviews as I would have hated that, but a bit of salsa on route back was great

Catamaran trip great , top guys! Very helpful! Must go.. Pinacolada not included on Cayo blanco but worth 5 dollars!
Trip to Cayo Blanco was great. Victor did good job. All Catamaran team was great. We was lucky as we had beautiful weather. Just must go. Left 4 stars as on our way to resort my wife left in bus bvlgari Sunglasses.. Jennifer from our resort called to him just maybe after 5 minutes when we left bus and driver said no sunglasses in bus.. Really sad as most of Cubans are really honest and always returning finding items.. But driver transtur company should be fired... So Cayo blanco trip OK.. Highly recomend but do not leave personal items in transtur buses as will be never returned.

Once again Gaviota let us down. We have had three excursions with this company and each time was a disappointment. Yes, on the day of our packed with people catamaran tour the weather was cloudy and cool. Once we left the Veradero dock and began our cruise to Cayo Blanco the bar was open and people began to drink. Drinking was all anyone could do, no music or activities to brighten peoples mood. Just a sail until people could snorkel in turbid water for a few minutes. Then onto Cayo Blanco. Lunch was good and yes Lobster was included. The bar was open and people kept drinking, no activities. My family took a long walk along the beach which was nice. Then back onto the boat and the sail back to Veradero. About 20 minutes before coming alongside the Veradero dock we had one song and a dance just so the crew could say they did as promised and then a long begging routine for tips. Now most of us are sympathetic to the Cubans plight but this crewman knew they had disappointed most people so we also had to endure a long feel sorry for us speech. Most people were generous but it left many of us with a bad feeling of being taken advantage of. The Gaviota tour cost $84us for each of us for a total of $504us we could have chartered our own powered pleasure craft (35 feet) for less than that. If you go on this type of excursion try not to become too drunk as there are kids onboard. Do not throw your garbage over the side. Good luck and happy travels.

We travelled 2 weeks across Cuba and we wanted to include some days on the beach and a Cayo in the tour. We picked Varadero because we wanted to visit Matanzas too and seemed also easier to reach a Cayo from there.
Unfortunately, the only way we could find was the catamaran trip. The Cayo itself is beautiful, but we woke up early to be picked up at 8.30 am, but between the travel and the stop for snorkelling you don't reach the Cayo before 11.30 and at 14.45 you are already leaving.
The worst part is that (probably because the majority of the passengers come from the resorts) you are forced to watch the entertainment on board with the captain probably thinking that everyone feels the urge of seeing a stage Cuban dancing or trying to organise Macarena dances with everyone.
I get that lots of people on holiday want an open bar, free booze and loud music, but we paid 75 dollars each (you can find it cheaper online BTW) to enjoy the place, not to be pushed to do what we don't like. The captain was extremely pushy and at our refusal to participate in any group activity, he got a bit offended.

This is a must do in Varadero. The boat captain and staff were kind, had great humour and were very interactive throughout the whole day. Drinks on both the boat and island were great. Pay the 5 bucks for at least one of the pina coladas, they’re one of the better ones you can get. The food was some of the best food we had all week. The beach is beautiful!
