Plenty of fish at Coral Beach
Feb. 2020
We had rented a taxi to take us to Matanzas for a day trip. We stopped off here at Coral Beach on the way back to our Varadero Hotel. The taxi man dropped us off at what seemed a small hut. Coral Beach is a small lagoon the reef is about 200m from the shore. Just hop over a low concrete wall and you are immediately in water about a metre deep and full of tropical fish! An unforgettable experience of these fish so close to shore. I just regret I hadnt a GoPro with me.

SCUBA Dove here

The Coral is great, the beach is sandy but volcanic rock by the water. The coral is amazing! There was a free diver feeding the fish and taking pictures when we went. He had a huge school of fish around him!

Life altering experience
Feb. 2020
If you've never swam in the ocean, this is the tour for you. The sea can be a little rough but the tour guides do a great job assisting you if you are nervous. Note: you have to be a strong swimmer to do the complete tour. I cant swim but my friend was able to experience and had a fantastic time .

as part of our excursion, awesome time, wish we could have spent more time there. Would have been even better if the water wasn't so rough, but glad we went

Public Beach side is not for amatures! But is Amazing!!!
Jan. 2019
My Wife and I took a Taxi out to the Public Beach area of Coral Beach. It is a bit dangerous as the jagged rocks are unavoidable and the waves are bigger with no lifeguard to be seen. However, This Coral Reef cannot be described or even seen in pictures to do it Justice. If you are a confident snorkeler/swimmer and you can respect the environment you are entering and it's delicate nature, you will see things that most people will never see in their life.

I thought I was going for the Tropical Fish. It turns out, although awesome, pale in comparison to the Coral Forests that you find yourself swimming through.

For instance, Elk Horn Coral is a rare gift to ever see one. Here you find yourself navigating through massive groves of them. I cannot recount all the beauty of that day.

Warning!! if you are the least bit unsure of your skills or unaware of how to treat Coral; go to the tour side. It is busy and you will have to pay, but you will get a glimpse into one of this planets most rare and beautiful sites.

Fantastic snorkeling
Dec. 2018
Very nice beach. We did snorkeling with the whole family there with a guide. It is very safe and fun. There are many species of fish and coral to see, some of them are really spectacular.

Walk-in and swim to the reef, it's right there! Scuba available
Jul. 2019
Made arrangements with a local guide (Cuco Scuba) , who was able to provide transportation supply the gear, and guide the dive. The reef was less than 5m so it was very safe and visibility was good. Good for novice divers. The place was not busy when we went there in the morning.

Our guide brought some soggy old bread in a water bottle which he would squirt out to attract fish. WOW...several hundred came !!! Also saw a lion-fish, gar and lots of other species I can't name. A great way to spend a half-day.

Tip:if you do scuba or snorkelling, bring a beverage for after..you'll want to rinse out the saltwater from your mouth.
