- CBH487Raleigh, North Carolina203 contributionsTouring with BreezesWe took this day cruise on Thursday, February 9th from the Jan Thiel pier with Breezes and the experience was beyond excellent. The crew was exceptional and really took care of everyone and made EVERYONE feel right at home. Our captain was very personable and easy to chat with and also guided us step by step on our expectations for the day. If the sea wasn't so rough going to Klein Curacao, which would be an adventure I could take every 3 days. Well worth the experience and priced appropriately for spending an entire day in the care of such great crew members. Having the private exclusive section on the beach was an added bonus.Visited February 2023Written February 15, 2023
- roberlynnWashington DC, District of Columbia315 contributionsA visit to a seclude uninhabited island is not a "must go" destinationWhile it was fun riding on a catamaran for two hours to visit less than a mile in length uninhabited island for approximately 2 hours of swimming and walking around the shore and a delish lunch on the boat. The waves were a bit rough and the island was windy. The beaches in north Curacao will serve you well with stunning swims in crystal clear water.Visited March 2023Written March 18, 2023
- Christina P6 contributionsWorth the rough voyage100000000% made my entire trip to Curacao. Crystal clear water, excellent temperature perfect for snorkeling. Keep in mind, the seas to get there are a little rough, so be sure to take Dramamine if you get seasick, and it’ll ruin your entire day, go ahead and skip just know you’ll be missing out on an incredible experience.Visited July 2023Travelled with friendsWritten July 31, 2023

I was skeptical when they said the captain would be bbq the food on the book while the people where on the island, but the food was amazing. Everyone on the boat enjoyed themselves.Visited August 2023Written August 19, 2023

We took a day trip on a catamaran to Klein Curaçao. Supposed to meet at 7:30, but didn’t leave til after 8, which is understandable. Once we got on the boat, there were about 20 other people on it with us (not including the 2 crew and captain). They briefed us on what was going to happen quickly, and told us that we could sit wherever we wanted. Seating in the back of the boat, on the top deck, inside, or in the front. Naturally, we chose the front. As we were making it out of the inlet/bay, one of the crew came up to talk to us. He told everyone (us, about 6 kids, and a few parents) that as cool as it was at the front, it was likely that you were going to get soaked.
Once we made the turn out of the bay, he was correct. The waves were probably 12-15’ that day, and one by one people went to the back of the boat. We stayed in the front the whole way, though we definitely did get soaked…which wasn’t that big of a deal because it was 90.
Once there, we swam to the beach and walked around the island. Pretty cool old lighthouse that you can climb up, though it is very narrow and if it’s busy, it’s going to be chaotic, so be prepared for that. Took some pictures, then continued walking around. There are two shipwrecks on the island, one a large steel boat that is broken up but washed ashore and is very cool. The other is a much smaller sailboat that has washed up on the beach. We also walked further around the island and found some turtle nexts, that are clearly marked for people to stay away from them.
I was unable to do any snorkeling, but from what I gathered from those that did was that it was amazing. Because the island is uninhabited, it was a nice change of pace from the busy streets of Willemstad.

Our favorite tinny island in the caribbean! This is a must go! We went with blue fin charters, it was allin, we could drink as much we wanted. Around 3pm they are going to give the fishes food, don't miss this, because you see turtles!

What was the food like? Im reading just like a food cart/burgers, but I saw another pic with buffet?

There is a buffet, but it is located in a private club. Otherwise, food options are very limited. Many of tour companies that offer day trips to the island provide lunch on the boat.
How much for chairs? Is there a bathroom?

Caso vc queira ir, indico o barco Mermeide. E o maior é com melhor estrutura, p pegar no hotel eles cobram 118 dólares. Sem transporte acho q 108. Os outro barcos são catamarãs peq e o mar é mto agitado, além de balançar é perigoso.

Has anyone went on this excursion while on a cruise? Looks like most tour boats leave very early where as my cruise this coming June will only be arriving at 8am. Thought to ask here before contacting them directly. Thanks!

There are also local people who own boats who go back and forth. Maybe a little bit more expensive then a excursion, but if you really want to experience it then I would give it a go.

I was wondering about the weather on Curacao last week? The daily weather reports show rain every day. It it really raining all day? Also did you snorkel recently and where? Name best shore sites. HH

Hi Hudson, I was there in June and the weather forecast was also every day rain. But we haven't had rain at all. Little Curaçao is really nice. For us it was the best snorkel site (we saw turtles), but any place in Curaçao is fine. Well good luck!

The boat ride to and from Klein Curacao seems pretty rough. Question. Is there any time of the year when the ride is not so choppy? Or is it year round always the same? Reason I ask is I am trying to visit Curacao in early January.

Fomos esta semana para lá e o mar estava ótimo. Temos um filho de 2 anos que dormiu o caminho todo. Foi bem tranquilo e ninguém passou mal. Vale muito a pena ir.
