- MonaivSan Diego, California96 contributionsGreat Island for Snorkeling and HistoryHighly recommend this island in the Caribbean. On our vacation we made Willemstad home base. We filled our days with various trips around the island and then returned each night to many great restaurants. Rental car is a must. The best beaches are a 30-40 minute drive outside of the city. The people of Curacao are warm and welcoming. English is widely spoken and it is also fun to hear all the other languages as well. A great mash up of cultures.Visited February 2023Written March 10, 2023

- pizzamaynardLouisville, Kentucky27 contributionsBeautiful city with a great feel.We were on a cruise and we’re able to stay in curaçao for 12 hours. Absolutely loved their downtown area. It has a great energy with a lot of shops, restaurants and things to do. They were having a big celebration of some sorts while we were there. The city has a great vibe and we will definitely be back. The Rif is an old fort they turned into a mall that’s really cool and the multi colored buildings lining the inlet are stunning. Would have loved to spent more time in the city.Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten April 9, 2023

Beautiful city, parking is a bit of a challenge, but that is to be expected! Wonderful to explore during the day for the shops and at night for the lights and people

A nice town to wander around - lots of interesting architecture - old, new, rundown, pristine. The Netherlands in the Caribbean.

This is such a beautiful town in general and this suburb is full of beautiful buildings with Dutch architecture and beautifully colored paints. We were there quite early in the morning and it was so quiet and peaceful.

Is it difficult to “flag” a taxi in the area by the floating bridge .. or is there a nearby taxi stand

We had no trouble finding a taxi at any time. By the way, it was strongly recommended by our tour guide, a local, that if you are out past 9pm on the island, that you take taxi anywhere you want to go for safety reasons.

Bonjour
Je vais aller au mois de mai à Curacao.
Je remarque en effet, que les excursions sont très chères.
Avez-vous quelques visites typiques à me conseiller svp ?

Our ship doesn't arrive until 1:30 at leaves at 10:30. What's open for shopping after 6pm if we go to the beach first?

Lorena B

We are stopping here on a cruise and I was wondering how much time I should set aside to see the town? A whole day ? A couple of hours? Im wondering if we should plan something else to do during the day or the town is enough?

Is Punda walking distance from the cruise ship pier? If not is there public transportation available at the cruise ship pier?

I would say yes; we walked it all. The whole area is very walkable; paved and basically flat. It also isn't really that big an area and no one is in a hurry.

How late do the stores/markets stay open? We will be traveling on a cruise in January and weren't thinking of stopping by Punda/Queen Emma Pontoon Bridge until around 6 or 7 at night.
