Nice beach, plenty of space, beautiful area. Lot's of places to grab a drink of food. Many of the beaches you pay a small fee to use for the day. They often also charge for a chair rental. Good beach for families with kids. Easy to find when driving.

A beautiful and relaxing restaurant setting. I was expecting a great beach. There is very little sand. I estimate 40 meters of sandy beach front. Much less than 80 meters I read about. Water shoes would be helpful as it is very rocky out in the water. Good amenities. Clean wash rooms. Some sand courts with nets. The water was refreshing. Not very many waves. I went on Christmas Eve. I paid $6.00 Guilders entrance fee. Lounge chairs were $60.00 but none were available. Restaurant servers let me know I could not just put my thing on the sand, which complicated my experience.

Jan Thiel is my least favourite beach of Curaçao. The beach is very, very small. Stoney and some strong currents. So not ideal if you're with small children. Furthermore, I don't like the atmosphere and crowd. Let's say it's a mass tourism spot that's frequented by a lot of Dutch package deal people. Although it wasn't that busy when we where there due to tourism taking a Covid-19 hit. We left the beach quickly for a spot at Zest, which was better (but still not as good as Blue Bay).

Small free sand coast beach area. So many sunbed you cannot walk. Overcrowded, overpriced, very bad place for snorkeling. Restaurant food menu horrible, overpriced hamburger 36 dollar, ceasar salad 26, quadzella 23 dollar, near 8 dollar. Not much choice, lots of deep fried frozen unhealthy dutch bites. Cocktail 23 dollar.

Wednesday 20th April and we drove to visit this much talked about beach which is located on the southwestern area of the Island.
There is a charge of $3 entrance to the beach. Car parking here was a bit of a nightmare, so we parked up on the roadside and walked in and avoided being charged, just as well as we were only here for a look.
Although the beach is not very big, can only be about 300 metres long, it is definitely a mass tourism location. So many sunloungers squeezed it, almost on top of each other along the beach with some static umbrellas. It did not look very inviting or comfortable. There was a charge to use the loungers.
The beach is a mixture of white sand, coral, grit, stones with some rocks. It is a manufactured beach which is washed by the turquoise waters of the Southern Caribbean sea
There were a number of rather trendy bars and restaurants around.

Nice enough man made beach - although very busy. Snorkeling meant to be good although we didn't go. Cost $6 to enter but free after 4.30
This is definitely more resort based - restaurants, bars, shops (all a bit more expensive). If that is your thing then it is probably well worth it. We enjoyed other more rugged beaches in the island.

I thought the beach was beautiful. It wasn’t terribly busy on a Friday afternoon. Admission price and beach chair rental prices were very inexpensive. The beach itself was clean and well-kept, the water was warm and beautiful, the bottom of the beach was also very sandy with not too too many rocks. The water does get deep but the beach seems to be in a bay, so we didn’t have any waves. There were also a few cute little beach restaurants with great frozen mixed drinks, tons of seating, and the beach overall was pretty quiet. We had a great day here!

Worst experience. I wanted simple pizza with no cheese because I can't eat dairy and the manager said he couldn't accommodate me. No cheese is so simple. I explained I was in curacao as a tourist from Canada and couldn't eat dairy and he still said no. Who does that this day and age. They need to improve their customer service.

Great beach with restaurants and bars. Lots of lounge chairs for rent. Gift shops. Plan on spending a good part of the day. Bring water shoes as most beaches are rocky

I booked a reservation at the Pedicure Salon Marisol at Jan Thiel Beach. I arrived on time, but Marisol had two of her friends from Colombia drop by so she took them in my slot. After waiting 45 minutes, I received the worst manicure and polish ever! Marisol told me (in English) that she had to hurry because she was now behind schedule. Well, what do you expect when you take other people who do not have a reservation? I paid for a GEL manicure and it stated to chip 3 days later. I went back to show her and all of a sudden she no longer spoke English, only Spanish! Gel nail polish is supposed to last much longer than 3 days. Don’t waste your money here.

Were you on a cruise ship? If so - how far was the beach?
Written January 3, 2018
Jan Thiel beach is 13 km from the cruis ship terminal. This will take you 25-45 minutes depending on traffic.

Hola Mercedes,
Nein Jan Thiel ist nicht zu empfehlen, ganz und gar nicht.
Dann lieber zur Pirates Bayern. Dort kann man sehr gut schnorcheln

How far from cruise ship is the beach and do you need day pass
Written January 2, 2017
Yes you will need a day pass, not expensive at all. I from a place (BRAZIL) where beaches are free of charge and I delighted paid for it.
Not that far, but I advice to rent a car once buses will not reach it. Renting a car would be cheaper than a transfer
Enjoy it
