Hurricane Maria took it's toll on the Botanic Gardens. The tourist trolley ended up on the other side of the Roseau River. The Bamboo House is still standing and the grounds still make for an enjoyable stroll.

This is not a place i would recommend going to right now. it is a grass field full of trees that have blown over, and no real restoration has taken place. It is not a peaceful relaxing spot at all. The best part is an...More

The Botanic Gardens were part of a shore excursion on our cruise, so we only spent a few minutes there, but it was very pretty. Dominica is a breathtakingly beautiful place, and the Gardens fit right in.

We enjoyed walking around to see the trees and flowers and birds. The drive around is very nice. There is an old bus that was flattened after hurricaine David in 1979

I had a picnic lunch with a few friends here on a Sunday afternoon and it was a beautiful and peaceful experience. Aside from the occasional car driving through the gardens there isn't much traffic.

It was amazing to see the tree that smashed a bus and the other unique trees and flowers. Check out the bamboo house.

As keen gardeners / botanists / horticulturalists, there was really very little to see. It's essentially a park with some nice trees. To call it a botanic gardenia stretching things somewhat!

The bamboo plant is also outstanding. You'll find several species that are not local to Dominica in addition to local species. Well maintained and it has a cricket pitch if you fancy sitting to watch a game. The closest you'll get to nature if you're...More
