The National Zoo is worth the trip with the family. A lot of foreign animals as well as local endangered species. The kids zoo is well designed and fun. The birds show is really nice. The snake area should be visited. Take the train tour...More

This is a must when visiting Santo Domingo, the zoo is small but the enclosures are well kept, the animals are healthy and the personnel is people oriented. Is important to take sun block and drinks. The train ride is a blast for the kids

The zoo is below average and involves lots of walking. The animals were few and far between. Unless you have absolutely nothing else to do don't bother.

The zoo was very nice and was surprisingly inexpensive for the number and types of animals that are housed there. It is pretty big and I love that it allows the animals plenty of open space unlike some zoos. And they have HIPPOs!!! My hubbys...More
