About
Pete Dye’s signature golf course, the #1 course in the Caribbean, and the #39 ranked course in the world—Teeth of the Dog has a reputation that’s well deserved. Meticulously hand carved from the rugged rock and coral of the Dominican coastline, the hard-fought and challenging creation of Teeth of the Dog is an apt description for what playing a round can be like. #39 Ranked Golf Course in the World

We had high expectations for this golf course based on Internet research and other reviews. It was the worst golf experience due to several factors. Gaining access to enter neighborhood took an hour even though we were signed up well in advance (months) to play. Large language barrier - no one spoke English well enough to communicate. Golf course itself was okay but there are only 3 places to get a drink and no cart girls to serve one. Caddie was okay. Overall, not worth the money spent. You can play way better courses in Punta Canta for half the price. Highly recommend Punta Espada.

We are happy to share our terrific experiences at Casa DeCampo's golf courses and the exceptional service provided by our caddy, Andy Solano Mejia. Some golfers enjoy a casual round of golf on vacation while others take the time to hone their game. We fall into the latter category and Andy picked up on this on our first outing. His expertise as a caddy and his affability made our golf outings enjoyable. He did a great job learning our game and providing strategic insight based on his first hand knowledge of the courses. He offered yardages, read the greens competently, replaced divots, raked the bunkers and always knew where our ball landed. His insight was most essential in club selection especially during windy days and with certain holes of varying elevations; the latter critical when playing at Dye Fore with multiple cliff-side holes near the Chavón River. We also want to acknowledge Caddy Master Pablo Herrera for his flexibility and willingness to accommodate our personal preferences. Kudos to them in ensuring our visit was a memorable one!

We played all 3 of the Pete Dye courses at
Casa de Campo, and we reserved Teeth of the Dog until the end. It is rated #1 in the Caribbean, and like only a few I have played, lives up to the hype. Our caddie (Julio King) was a pleasure and a big help. the course conditions were good, lush, not manicured like some tier 1 courses I have played but when you see the overall property, you will appreciate the work and care taken. Bunkers are inconsistent, but the tee boxes, fairways and greens were great.

What an amazing golf course, and not just the course itself but the incredible service from the caddies and other staff. This is by far one of the best golf courses I have played on, and the view on some of the holes were breathtaking. Our caddy (Jose Javier) was very polite and helpful the entire round and took time to assist all 4 of us that were playing. I definitely recommend playing a round or 2 at this course, you won't regret it.

The course was magnificent. Seven holes truly made by God. Very easy to score and kept in great condition. The challenge is keeping your head down when there's so much to see. Manager Steve is amazing. Helped w everything. Typical American housewarming feeling. Food was great and staff was fantastic. Top 20 course for sure in the world.

Was honestly expecting more for a highly rated course. While the holes along the ocean are beautiful, I cannot say the layout or conditions met my expectations. I thought the Dye Fore Marina/Chavon combo may even be better.

My wife and i stayed for 5 nights in Dominican Republic and i was determined to play golf one of the top golf courses in the world. The views from the ocean holes are stunning and I'm glad I made the decision to play. Usually at this time of year a round for non guests is $235. Personally I could not justify paying that amount but was fortunate enough to be a guest of a member and thus did not pay. This was a good thing as i took a $90 taxi to get there. If you visit the island and plan on playing golf, make sure you know how far the courses are from your hotel. Most of the major hotels will organize tee times and transportation but the roads aren't good and it took me 90 minutes from Punta Cana to La Romana. This is not a cheap place to play but all the courses i played were beautiful. The course is manitained by an army of greens keepers. You will be expected to take on a caddie, who are helpful, speak English and are a great addition. Expect to tip them $20-most of the island is happy to deal in dollars and you really don't need local currency. The greens are extremely fast and near impossible to stop as they have been recently relaid. So plan on landing the ball at the front of the green and allowing it to roll back.
I really enjoyed the round but if you are a hacker or a high handicapper, I think $235 is too much to pay. The course is not particularly hard and I'm glad to say I parred both the par 3s over water on the front nine. If money is no option then take your clubs and play the courses of Campo De Casa.

I had the opportunity to play Teeth of the Dog on March 10, 2009 and it is without a doubt, the best golf experience that I have had to date. I was staying at the Grand Oasis in Punta Cana and booked the course through GO GOLF which has preferred tee times at many of the top courses in the Dominican. Although the price may seem steep at first glance $295.00 USD, it includes pickup/return from your hotel as well as cart fee. When travelling from the Punta Cana area, it is a 90 minute drive to the course and considering how traffic is in the city's and town's that you have to pass through, trust me, you don't want to make that drive on your own!!
One thing thay don't tell you, is that having a caddy is mandatory for Teeth of the Dog as well as the associated extra cost. The fee is only $10.00/bag + tip. My caddy had a pretty easy time as I was in a 3some and he rode in the cart with me which was no problem. We were well looked after upon arrival and since the course was not very busy, we were pretty much free to head to the first tee after warming up on the range. One other point, the Callaway rentals are a bit steep at $58.00, but who wants to haul a set of clubs from home for 1 round of golf (not me).
The course itself, is very well maintained, right from the flower beds through to the tee boxes, fairways and on to the greens which rolled straight and true with a little help on the line from the caddy!! The holes along the ocean are spectacular, with special kudos for the par 3's (I played them in 1 over) and you must make note of the ocean breezes before you hit your shot or your Titleist may find a watery grave. Playing from the Gold tees is a bit daunting at 7077 yds, but there are other tee boxes to play if you would be more comfortable playing a bit shorter course. One of my group was a lady and she did comment to me that she thought that the froward tees were very female friendly and that is not something she always sees.
Pete Dye did an outstanding job of designing this track, and after playing it, I can certainly see why it is rated the top course in the Carribean, as well as being #34 in the world. One more thing......Make sure you bring your camera.......There are plenty of opportunites to take spectacular photos of the scenery at this course.

Hi I am Cruising to the area and will have about 6 hours in port, I was hoping to get in 9 or if possible 18 holes in while there. Do you think this is possible and what are the green fees with rental clubs. Thanks
Written February 13, 2024
Greetings. Please check our website for online tee times to check live availability, prices, and you'll be able to determine if it will work based on your schedule.
Depending on the day 9 holes might be possible at Dye Fore Lagos.

Do they offer Twilight Discount after 2:30pm or 3pm a (low and high season)? Or is it low season only.... I read one review that said Twilight Discount was 50%.... also is there a nine hole rate? Thanks in advance.
Written September 16, 2019
Greetings, we do not offer twilight rates. Tee times rates vary depending on golf course and guest type.

From UK and caddies are never mandatory, how much should I be tipping? I don't want to stiff the guy.
Written May 25, 2019
Greetings. The average tip for a forecaddie is $25 - $30 USD for each player, paid in cash. Please take into consideration caddies are mandatory to play Teeth of the Dog® and Dye Fore.

im a high handicapper & play pretty fast . i was wondering if i should play and are houses in play . ive played punta espada and loved it , but it was kinda wide open and secluded
Written May 2, 2017
Definitely recommend playing this course as it is one of my all time favorites. I wouldn't really consider houses in play. Sure it is possible to hit into them but it would take a very wicked shot to get to them.
Really only noticed houses on the first few holes on the front nine and maybe the first two on the back. I never felt like Teeth of the Dog was tight and the back nine is very secluded in my opinion.
