I used to go quite often to this place and I liked that I could chill and eat and drink in a nice beach. Unfortunately I had a very horrible experience yesterday. We arrived and no one welcomed us and a man started yelling at me to not touch some chairs because “they were reserved for groups consuming more than 140 dollars” I’ve been there several times in the last years and this was never said to me. Without fighting I sat in other chairs and saw how this other place was never taken by no one and how other people sitting in same chairs in other locations were not tell nothing. During the whole time NOONE CAME TO US no one asked if we wanted something to eat to drink, nothing. When I went all the way to the restaurant area this same guy who screamed at us earlier was there and completely ignored me. I needed to call his attention (it was clear I was standing there but he refused to look at me until I call him) and asked for the menus. He gave it in the most horrible manner and I left feeling stupid to my chair. He never came back to us to see if I wanted something from the menu. I left feeling horrible and knowing I will never go back there. Such a pity for such a nice beach.

There is a lot of stinky sargassum seaweed. It caused the water to be quite cloudy also. There are chair rentals on the beach along with a nice little bar. If staying at certain resorts you do not have to pay.

The beach is quite lovely but it feels enclosed as there are “resorts” on either side, where you cannot enter. Although it was not the weekend, all the canopies were filled; thankfully there were chairs sill available. Food and beverage are offered at the restaurant on site. I had the chicken Caesar salad and it was quite enjoyable. The ocean was murky while I was there. There are floats built around (assuming it’s to keep the seaweed away) but the beach/ocean area feels a little closed in too. Definitely would go back to relax on the beach but wondering if there are better beaches options.

I have been coming to Juanillo for 3 years since I have my apartment in Cap Cana. In my last visits the service has been terrible and the food worse! The service guys have to be stopped because they don't even come to you to change the ice in a bucket. If you arrive in the afternoon don't expect to find most of the starters because they are sold out. They added more tables and umbrellas but NO more staff to serve! It seems that they have opened the doors to the entire city and the exclusivity that this beach had HAS unfortunately ENDED……..

Given the rave comments we were amazed at this beach. Maybe the seaweed is seasonal but we never saw a beach with a boom before.
Nearly every day was windy with blowing sand which exposed rocks, sticks, roots etc making it rough to walk on.
And we too never saw so much dangerous glass!!
At least a crew was out daily to clear the beach and boom.

I love this beach !! Not only is it stunning it is not as busy as Barvaro with minimum seaweed which was cleaned daily . It is located in a gated protected very safe location with no vendors which was wonderful. We prefer a quieter spot so this was perfect

We visited DR on a cruise ship. Based on my research, Juanillio Beach is one of several beaches comprising Punta Cana and also one of the few that has public access. You will have to go thru the Cap Cana resort to get there.
We went on a cruise excursion and it was well worth the price! The beach was deep and long with soft white sand. The water was warm! Instead of umbrellas, there was a row of cover sectioned off for 2-4 lounge chairs in each section allowing no sun to get through for the entire afternoon.
Highly recommended.

Beautiful beach with a nice stretch of hotels. Rent kayaks, a sailboat or a StandUp Paddleboard. Or you can just relax on the white sand beach. Checkout Little John on the beach, a favorite among the locals. Area is safe as Cap Cana is private.

Great beach in Punta Cana, we spent the day here as a change from our hotel (which was fantastic). The hotel provided free transportation there and back. Beach was beautiful and wide open, plenty of beds and shade. The beach bar and grill was excellent with great food at reasonable prices.

Is there free access to the beach if I am coming from a cruise ship on my own? Also, are there rest rooms, umbrellas and chairs? If so, is there a charge?

I am seeing lots of unanswered past questions on this topic, but willing to ask again.
(1) How long will a taxi ride take from the Cap Cana Marina (where our cruise ship will tender) to get to Juanillo (Cap Cana resort entrance)?
(2) approximately how much will a taxi ride cost?
(3) is it possible or even preferred to arrange a return taxi upon arrival there, or is it fairly easy to get a taxi to return to Marina?
Thanks

Is really a public beach? If you are not staying at Cap Cana can anyone go to Juanillo?
Thanks & have q nice day)

Hi! It is a public beach. You need to go through the gates at Cap Cana and if you are not staying in the area all you have to do is letting them know you are going to Playa Juanillo and they will ask for your ID. Sometimes they just register you and sometimes they ask you to leave it your ID with them until you leave but most definitely you get access.

I have a tripped planed end of December to the first week of January. We have been to the DR many times, this time the Dreams LA romona was taken over by Hilton, we loved it there so much! The ocean was so clear and beautiful. We love dreams and decided on secret cap Cana. I’m looking at reviews and I’m getting nervous about the beach not being swim because of the seaweed. The reviews so far are from May-October. Can any one give me an honest review about the beach around Christmas and New Years.
Written October 31, 2019
We were there in June 2019 so consider that. The seaweed was not a problem. They have crews of workers working early in the morning and again late afternoon (daily) to keep the seaweed off the beach; and the shallow area up to being underwater (I'm 6'3" tall) wasn't an issue for wading or swimming. Don't get me wrong there is seaweed that comes onto the beaches but it is looked after and taken care of. It's not just left there. I also suggest scrolling back to reviews of the beach, area, and your resort around Christmas and New Year's last year to give you a better idea of what to expect during that time of the year. Good luck and enjoy your vacation 👍🏾✌🏾

I believe that parts of the beach south of the Scape Park area are public. It was very quiet though the times when we were there.
