Something to do

Small spice and souvenir market. Hard to find a parking spot. All the booths have the same price and do not bargain. Better prices at Canella beach hotel gift shop although the prices are better here than down the road at the artisan market . That place is pricey

Delicious fruit and vegetables.
Feb. 2019
We were low in our vegetables and fruits. We stopped here and they had lots of choices.

They were friendly and it was not expensive at all.

We could not stay here, as other people wanted some of it as well.

A must see!

Cute Small Local Cultural Market, Souvenirs, Rum and More
Apr. 2019 • Couples
Enjoyed our 30 minute stroll through this beachside local market. The shop stalls are mostly temporary set ups selling souvenirs, flavored rums, bulk spices, arts & crafts, shirts & blouses, trinkets and fresh fruits. You can find some Mara-logo jewelry too.

BOTTOM LINE: Is it worth the visit? If you are not going out of your way to get here, sure come check it out, but it is not worth coming primarily just to see it. There is perhaps 30-35 vendors in total. The emphasis seems to be on lots of "homemade" flavored rums. Sorry, I would not touch these with a ten foot pole, even if I drank. I just would not trust it. The pathways between the stalls are sandy and uneven for those with mobility problems. MY RATING: 6/10.

Just behind the market is a nice beach.

Very mixed - some great vendors - some not so much
Mar. 2019 • Couples
It is located right in front of the ocean and on the main street in Sainte-Anne so it is easy to get to and pleasantly located. The vendors sell basically the same stuff but some sell better quality than others and some jack up the price depending on the customer.

Must do: Buy the fresh juices from the lady who sells fresh juices. Do not buy them from the guy who also sells coconut ice cream. He does not post prices because he charges depending on what he thinks you aught to pay. The juices made by the lady were delicious and fresh and always reasonably priced.

The fresh fruits and vegetables are a must. There is a guy who lets you taste things before you buy them so try them if you feel inclined. We went there on our first day and after buying a bag full he gave us two fruits as presents. We returned several times during our visit. His avocados were excellent and all his fruits lived up to their promise.

There is a lot of flavored rhum sold here but we don't drink rhum so in all fairness we cannot judge the quality or taste.

We did buy several coconut ices and they were absolutely delicious.

We did not buy any of the souveniers such as spices or woven baskets because I have so many woven items bought at similar markets that I don't need any more.

The market is a good way to get to know the local folklore but not a must every day.

Small, but worth seeing!

Small, but worth seeing! This tiny market offers fresh local produce and a typical Caribbean atmosphere, away from the more bustling places like Fort de France. The vendors are sweet, welcoming, and the prices reasonable. We purchased most of our spices there.

Small but ok

It was smaller that we thought but it was ok to see the different things. If you are there at the beach anyway then it is worth going

A tiny market focused on selling rum
Jul. 2018
The market in Sainte-Anne is only worth visiting if you happen to be in town. It is small, and consists of a mix of tourist traps, locally produced punch (rum with added taste like banana, orange, spices etc) and a small selection of fruits and legumes. If you are into markets, the market in Point-a-Pitre is larger and offers a greater selection (albeit of mostly the same things...).

Good local things

Pretty small market. You can buy beach clothes, fruit liquors and species. People in the market are pretty respectful and are not pushing you to but things. It is walking distance from La Caravelle.

I was quite pleased with the market, the boutiques all had locally handcrafted items at reasonable prices. I managed to get all my souvenirs there.

worth it

considering the lack of artisan shops in the island, this is the best choice. We went to several Marché in Guadeloupe where you are supposed to find hand craft stuff but they were all poor...in that one ypu can find many shops, with different stuff, wonderful dresses btw
