The coffee plantation was truly fascinating. The gentleman who provided information regarding the history of the plantation and how coffee is grown and harvested was extremely knowledgeable. I learned an awful lot in those 30 minutes.

Our visit to Croydon Plantation gave us tremendous insight into the history and culture of Jamaica as well as the challenges faced by the rural residents. We were privileged to have the owner of the farm as our tour guide and we learned alot about the challenges of farming in the mountains. We also enjoyed many tasty samples including pineapple, coffee and the jerk chicken lunch. The bus ride into the mountains was an adventure in itself! Highly recommend if this is the type of thing that interests you.…

We stayed in Montego Bay so the drive to Croydon plantation was about two hours. Our guide Alisa had a great attitude and was a wealth of information regarding Jamaica and Jamaican life. Our driver Gray navigated the road, sometimes one lane, like a professional. Once you get to the plantation the view is beautiful. The tour offers information regarding coffee beans, honey and the different fruit and plants grown on the plantation. We missed the coffee bean demonstration where bean is separated from skin because the season was over so you may want to check the season to get the most out of the tour. On our tour we sampled eight different types of pineapple, homemade pineapple juice made from the skin. As well as a variety of other fruits. We also learned about the history of the plantation. The tour was relatively short, but ends with a nice lunch (BBQ chicken, veggies, rice and beans). If you want a drink (water, soda, beer) you will have to purchase that separately as apparently that is not included in the price. There is also an opportunity to buy souvenirs at the end, but nothing related to the plantation itself. I enjoyed the tour, but the ride up and back is longer than the tour itself, which lasted just under an hour. If you get car sick easily this is not the adventure for you as most of the road to the plantation is not paved and is very curvy. …

I toured the wonderful Croydon Plantation because of my love for coffee. It was one of the Carnival Cruise approved excursions. I took this particular tour while on a Caribbean Cruise with Carnival Dream in July 2014 with friends. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly Along the way she answered questions and pointed out beautiful plants, vegetation, and crops indigenous to the island. We were treated to fresh fruit grown on the plantation midway through the tour. I thought this was a particularly nice touch. But the highlight was at the end of the tour which is when we were served Jerk Chicken with island greens and a bottled water. I had an opportunity to sample freshly brewed coffee, a product of the plantation. It had a delicate distinction. Delicious! I was thrilled. There is also coffee for sale. Coffee makes a great gift from Jamaica. I highly recommend it! …
