About
Consisting of a series of natural limestone pools, the Blue Hole is a hidden gem that captivates travelers with its azure waters. It offers quite the adventure: swim in the pools, go cliff-jumping, swing from ropes into the waters, explore a cave, and take a 10-minute hike to the Secret Falls. There are bathrooms and changing rooms onsite, with lockers and lifejackets available for rent. There aren’t much crowds at the Blue Hole, especially from mid-morning onwards.
The waterfall is best visited with a tour from Montego Bay or Ocho Rios, which often includes the option to also visit Dunn’s River Falls, or go river tubing.

- mummamiaMAMelbourne, Australia327 contributionsThe Highlight of JamaicaAfter doing the rafting along White River we drove up to Blue Hole. It was a little tricky to find but a local who worked up there led the way on his motorcycle and then he gave us the full tour experience and took photos and videos of us too. If you can ask for Tristan Mitchell, he was amazing and super helpful and encouraging to our teen daughter who was nervous to jump in some of the spots. This took over an hour and life vests are available if you need. Water shoes are a must. Blue Hole is even more beautiful than a Dunn’s River and it has deep water holes to jump or dive into. Just breathtaking. It cost $15 USD to get in and you tip your guide anything from $60 to $150 depending on your group size and how much you enjoyed yourself. There are numerous spots to jump from - your guide will tell you if you need to water bomb, jump feet first or dive, depending on the water depth. There was also a cave to swim into under a waterfall and give yourself a mud bath and a rope swing to fly off into the water. This was just so much fun, if you don’t have time for anything else you must do this!!!!Visited January 2020Travelled with familyWritten January 6, 2020
- NikkiSperanzoBristol, Rhode Island28 contributionsBeautiful and Fun ExcursionWe went to Blue Hole in January of 2020. I went with my boyfriend, and my mom. We combined the trip with Mystic Mountain. We went to Blue Hole first thing in the morning. The water was a beautiful blue, and extremely refreshing! The views were outstanding. First we climbed up the water fall, then made our way down it. The guide was great, we jumped off of many cliffs into deep water, and even did the rope swing! It was a super fun trip, and we would for sure do it again. Don’t forget your water shoes!!! You do need them. If you do forget them, you can purchase them before you get to the hole, they’re sold for $15!Visited January 2020Travelled with friendsWritten January 14, 2020
- BMiller2013Milwaukee, Wisconsin210 contributionsHidden Gem in Jamaica - Blue HoleThe Blue Hole is located in Jamaica's White River Valley. It is located between St Ann and Sr Mary's parishes. If you take a taxi from the Ocho Rios cruise port, expect approximately a 20 minute drive. The Blue Hole creates cascades of waterfalls approx. 20-25 feet. It is a great excursion for swimmers, hikers and thrill seekers. Plan on wearing swimwear and water shoes. It would be a good idea to also bring a towel and a waterproof phone pouch so you can capture some great pictures. Lockers are available for an extra cost. Park entrance fee is $20 American dollars per adult. We were told that we needed a guide to walk us through the area and we tipped him a few dollars per person.Visited February 2020Written February 24, 2020

Too beautiful for words. But I believe the locals should have free or extreme reduced rates to get in. Seems like they are getting shut out of this and other beautiful sites in their homeland. Students should get in for free for sure to encourage locals to take pride in Jamaica's beauty.

My son and I went to the blue hole and tubing experience. I had a great time. We had so much fun. My son gained so much confidence from jumping and doing flips into the water I was so proud of him. It was beautiful even on a rainy day. Our guides were great too! Romain and Lindo(sp) were so fun. If you're reading this...I'm on Facebook... friends for life! haha Definitely would book this excursion if you are thinking of going to this area.

The blue hole is beautiful and jumping in was lots of fun for our group. Lots of walking, slippery rocks, etc. but that’s what you’d expect from this type of excursion. Our guide was amazing from beginning to end!

ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR! Would 100% recommend! The water is crystal clear and cool, the guides are fun and knowledgeable and the experience is unforgettable. We would come back to Jamaica and spend an entire day at the Blue Hole if we could. Loved every second of this experience and will definitely be back!
We didn’t even take any photos because we were just enjoying the experience too much! Love love loved it!

Love, love, loved this place. Our tour guide was the best. Even though our family was a little disfunctional, he understood and still took us through. Recommended 10/10. Wish I remembered the tour guides name.

We had the most wonderful experience at the blue hole Aug 10th. Would definitely recommend!!! Our tour guide Javier made it all the more better and made our experience so special. He was amazing, he made sure we felt safe, and we felt VIP at all times in his care. Can’t say enough great things about the blue hole and especially our tour guide Javier.

How far is the platform from the water? My husband and I are in a debate after jumping this summer. He says it was a 10’ jump and I say 30’. What’s the correct distance? Thanks!

I’m not sure of the exact height of the jump. It felt like 10 metres, but was probably not much more than 5. All I know is that I would probably have not chosen to go there if I had known the reality beforehand. But, having survived, I felt good about it.

I'll be pregnant when we are there. Can I go? I'm not planning on jumping in obviously. I just want to swim.

Yes, as long as you are able to do a little walking and moving. It's a little slippery at times, you definitely need water shoes.

I am a non swimmer and fear of deep water. However hubby is good swimmer. We are keen to visit blue hole with tui trip to kokono falls to. Can I just walk the falls while hubby swims. Or paddle in shallower waters. Life jacket won't conquer the fear tried it in Dominican Republic when missold a waterfall tour.

can i wear chacos at a water park as water shoes

I didnt see any broken glass or sharp rocks. Thus, even no shoes would have been okay where we were, but I recommend them only for safety. I think any shoe with a strap to stay on would be fine. Sliders will definitely fall off.
What are the rules and regulations for blue hole

Masks until after paperwork and paying. Then, follow your guide and his instructions. It is all within 100 yards. Hump as many times as you like from either base and use the hand-zip slide as often as you like. Tip upon completion and check the photo shop...barter a lot if you like one or more photos.

Just wondering how kid friendly this is for a 4 year old ? She loves the water. Also do they provide life jackets for children? Thanks
Charles Y
Atlanta, GA747 contributions
I think a 4 year old would be OK and might have fun swimming in the holes if you stay with them. They do have life jackets (but I'm not sure if some are that small). The walk to the holes has roots and narrow, steep stairs in places, so you'd have to hold their hands. They probably could do the jump, but could just enjoy it with you and swim around. The water is cooler than the ocean, so they may not enjoy the swimming. There are folks smoking pot and drinking around, and that might dissuade you.

Private Driver.
Hi, This may help other travellers. I opted to just hire a driver to take/wait and return me from the Blue hole which was a 20min drive from where I was staying in Tower Isle.
Paid the $15 entry fee and then just tipped the guide. I think this was the cheapest way to do everything and I had a great experience.
I used Tranquility Tours (FB)-

Everything was pretty dead after covid so not alot of excursions where up and running from the hotel. We got lucky and met Mr. Devroy, he is a licensed independent driver w.a clean car and excellent knowledge of the area, he seriously made this trip amazing. He knew all the hot spots and drove us anywhere we wanted to go. With very competitive rates I will never do hotel shuttle tour again, having your own driver gives you freedom to come and go at whatever time you wish. Contact Mr. Devroy aka Mr. Seemore Payless when in Jamaica 876-432-1785 tell him San Diego sent you :)!!!!
