Beautiful beach, not crowded at all. It is a quick walk back to ship but you do want through a lot of vendors trying to push their items on you.

This is a wonderful hidden gem. The surrounding street area is a bit congested however once you park the beach is beautiful. Very quiet and serene. No vendors to bother you. For $44 US we got admission for 6, 3 umbrellas, and 6 chairs. There is also local shops to get snacks. You can also bring your own snacks and beverages as well. The water and beach are very clean. There is a large dock in the distance for cruise ships; however we missed ships. About two blocks away is also many restaurants including Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville.

cleaner would be better than it is. If youve been there, you know. Cleaner is always better. Needs improvement.

This beach costs $200 JMD to enter which is well worth it. There are no vendors trying to sell you stuff and you feel that your belongings are safe while you are in the water.
The concrete jetty in the picture is long since gone and fallen into the sea.

The beach is right next to a dock, there’s always boats coming in and out of it, so you know it can’t be a clean water beach.
The beach itself is ok looking if you don’t mind the boats and the oil in the water but if you’re planning your whole vacation around this beach… well find another place in Jamaica (my bet would be Negril).

Beach is well looked after with golden sand. Plenty of life guards available. Security too. A paying fee to enter the beach. A bar also on the beach serving drinks, not sure of its opening times. Offers of water sports available. Nice atmosphere, although weekdays fairly quiet.

I thought I’d done my homework before leaving but here is what we really found. If you keep walking 15 minutes to left of cruise dock, you will come to entrance of the beach. Gated. $3 pp entrance fee $5 for a chair $5 for umbrella.
There is a small beach associated with margaritaville and oceans 11. NEXT to that is a very very small free public beach. No chairs available. We laid out towels. Water is warm and cold ( as fed here by mountain run-off stream).
Much local color here. We were warned by many to not venture from the ship dock area. One man from the ship told my husband he did and was “scared to death.”

I love the Ocho Rios Bay Beach. I was so nervous about wearing a 2 piece bathing suit at my age, but I felt very comfortable-lol. The weather was hot and the beach was very clean( no sea weed)

Great little beach, mostly local families with good view and service. Water was wonderful and staff were also kind and not pushy for a cruise ship dock place.

Absolutely safe, enlightening, fun AND environmentally conscious! I absolutely love our guides - Sofia (Yo momma for the day!), Ryan(Our driver was knowledgeable and funny!), Mr. Griggs at the Falls(focused on safety, mindful of varying abilities and FUN! and our videographer(on-point and efficient) and our Captains and DJs on the catermaran (energetic, attentive to the audience needs).
My regret is that we did not have the ability to tip electronically and that our tour guide Sofia took lunch away from us. We felt like family at this point and she was removed from us. It felt like she was not good enough to dine with us. Omg! The Margaritaville lunch was simply great! The coleslaw and jerk meal was SO good! In summary, Jamaica was heaven on earth for me.

Hi , looking to go to Jamaica in december with wife and adult daughter . Is food cheap if we dont go an all inclusive resort , we are not big drinkers

Good day, the cost for entry is $200 Jamaican dollars for adults and $100 JMD for children ages 4 - 12. If you do not have any Jamaica dollars, the cost is $3 US dollars for adults and $1 USD for children. Unfortunately, the Ocho Rios Bay Beach is currently closed due to the pandemic.

Does anyone know which days of the week are least crowded? And which days the cruise ships tend to dock? I would prefer to avoid the crowds. Thanks!

I don’t think there is a restriction but people there stare a lot so I guess it’s more up to you. Anyway there is a hotel right behind the fence and people from out there can see the beach
Hi,
What is the sand like under the water at Moon Palace in Ochos Rios? Is it mushy like in Montego Bay?
Thank you!

You can walk to the beach in around 20mins, don’t know how much a taxi would be, but it’s not very far, keep walking through the town with shops etc until you reach a large car park with barriers go through here to the beach everyone has to pay to go onto the beach $3 each. If you would like fun, activities, food and music turn left, if you prefer a quite time turn right and walk along the beach until you reach a small hotel called rooms, they will rent you a bed fir $5 that includes using all facilities in the hotel ie pool washrooms, bar etc.
We were there last week, it’s super friendly and this area is very safe.
Hope that helps have a great time
