Only got to eat lunch here on my recent vacation to Negril. Have to say that it was the best lunch of the whole vacation. The quality of the food and presentation were superb. It's only a beachside bar but well worth a visit. Prices were more than reasonable, service was good albeit a little too slow, but hey you are in Negril.

On first impression the place looks a bit run down but dont be put off. The admission price is cheap and the entertainment is good. They have live reggae bands and then later on the music comes on and the local boys strutt their stuff and they certainly know how to move. Its all good entertainment.

It can get rather busy but its never difficult to get served with drinks. Lots of tourists come here and it's not so intimidating but thats not to say locals shouldnt go by any means, after all they do live there.

The place is suitable for all ages and a good time is had by all.

Be careful of the bald skinny bartender. He never gives you back your change, and when you question him he claims you never paid him. He did it to us and I watched him do it to several others too. I’ve been going to this place for the live music for over 25 years, I will never be back.

We came here with a group and the food and service was terrible. The waitress acted as if we were bothering her and never smiled. A little friendliness can go a long way and help to overlook the food ! The music was good. Not sure I’d go back.

Was there Dec 19 and 22 2009. The Reggae beach party with the live band was great, but regrettably it started to rain and everyone had to move "inside". Upon 1st glance around, it seemed like everyone was having a great time and locals were happily mingling with tourists. The rum punch is indeed terrific. When I went the 2nd time, I realized that I was terribly naive my 1st visit, and that the place is crawling with pimps, prostitutes and gigolo's - all after tourists. Sigh....I was propositioned about 10 times. It seems Negril is in desperate need ot another night spot. The lineup of traffic on Thursday nights for the Jungle is about a mile long each way.

Alfreds has a wonderful variety of live music 3 to 4 times a week and each show is unique. The outdoor atmosphere is one of the best places to gaze at the stars or dance your feet off in the sand. The locals and family members that work for Alfreds have wonderful attitudes towards every customer.

Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner, Alfred's is a great place, great food, great company. It's so nice to see every one still there year after after. I visit regularly and am always greeted with a smile and a sense of warmth and security.

There is no friendlier place in Negril to have something to eat (breakfast, lunch or dinner) or an amazing drink than at Alfred's Ocean Palace. The staff are welcoming and after your first visit they will know your name and make you feel like part of their family. Alfred's is right on the beach and the sunsets are incredible. There is also live reggae music 3 nights a week with a local/tourist crowd where everyone mixes it up on the sandy dance floor. A comfortable atmosphere can be found here from morning till late night. This is the one place in Negril where you can go and relax and have no worries.
Bartenders Chris & Rudy - you two should get awards in Negril hospitality!!

I recommend the steamed fish...delicious!!

Just so you're not miss led, this was my first time in Jamaica, so I don't really have anything to compare it to, but I will say that if given a choice I would stay at Alfred's again. This is no fancy resort, it's a beach house, it's the bare necessities, no air, so you would want to stay there in the winter, I was there for New Years Eve. Some rooms don't have a bathroom, so you have to share facilities, our room had one, and they do a very good job of cleaning them while you're away, all you have to do is leave them the key. It's kind of like Vegas, you're really not going to spend a whole lot of time in there anyway, you just need a place to crash. It's affordable, so you can spend your money on other things, and have a good time while you're there. The best part is that you can have breakfast, lunch, and dinner right next door at Alfred's restaurant, and the food is great, you can also party two nights a week without leaving where you're staying, and I could just sit out on that upper deck alllll... day. The staff was very friendly, trustworthy and accommodating. I absolutely loved it, and can't wait to go back.
