About
Just 15 minutes north of Negril's 7 Mile Beach, Calico Jack's is a world apart. A rustic bar on its own little castaway island, all you see from here is wild coastline and pristine coral reefs. In fact, the snorkeling is the best in the whole Negril area.

We went here today, thought it was open because the website said there was music on Sunday. There is nothing going on, we were the only people there and had to wait -30 minutes for the boat over. The driver/bartender was very nice and we had a nice time talking to him. The bar is in disrepair with no roof and the floor is extremely deteriorated. The website said it was $5 to get on half moon bay which was true, it also said it was $5 for the boat ride over to the island which is now $10 for a bar that is no longer functional. I would not recommend this place, which is a shame because it could have potential.

Visited Calico Jack's Pirate Island on a recent tour with Sunbaby Glass Bottom Boat. We weren't sure the place was even open, but the boat captain went to shore, and the bartender opened up the bar just for us. We had a great time enjoying the view and the company of Captain Roger and the bar tender at Calico Jack's. We were hoping to get lunch, but they weren't cooking the day that we were there. (September is the "slow season", as we were told at more than just this venue.) They offered to order lunch for us, but we just enjoyed a drink and the visit.

We went out with another couple staying at our resort and had the place to ourselves. We had jerk chicken and curried shrimp for lunch. We snorkeled on the reef around the island. Nice variety of coral and sea life. Best snorkeling I have done in 4 trips to Jamaica. Glad it was low season.

Arranged prior to arriving in Negril.

Was asked to call day before to check boat was going out to island (weather permitting) but was happy to just go to Half Moon Beach for a change from Negril.

Arranged taxi picked us up promptly at 10.30 ( there was another lady in taxi though not sure why / what) Taxi back at 4pm.
$30 taxi, $10 boat, $10 beach - think if they are going to charge for beach, sun loungers need to be vastly improved

Had a great day at Calico Jack's. Boat out at 1pm , drinks, fish lunch which was delicious very garlicky, no oil and cooked on BBQ plus included rice n peas, lovely pasta salad. Think was only about 12$ and we shared. Boat back just before 4pm.

Entertained by the informative Livingston whilst we were there and had such a laugh. Played my tunes when his were exhausted. Great views and lots of different seating areas. Fun watching the hundreds of little crabs on the island.

Not as scenic or amazing as going to Floyd's Pelican Bar but a lot closer to Negril, better seating and delicious fish. Plus if you are lucky enough to have Livingston on board.
And yes, there is a gents and ladies toilet !

We had a great lunch and relaxing time at Jack's. It was the best lunch all week.
We tried snorkeling but only 2 to 3 feet deep.

A group of us had a morning trip and lunch booked via Elvis (from the beach). Half moon beach was our stop off point before our boat ride to the island, The island was lovely and we had cold red stripes. We had excellent fresh lobster with Rice & Peas for lunch. The guys on the island were very friendly and the surroundings were very pleasant. It is well worth a trip out.

As we were going to be in Negril during low season, we made sure to ask in advance of going whether they'd be open during our trip. The answer was yes, so we contacted them again 48 hours before going. The answer was still yes. We contacted them the day of, and the answer was still yes, so we made plans with the taxi and some friends. 90 minutes later, they messaged to say they had "just learnt" repairs were being made that day and so they would be closed!!!!! Completely unacceptable!

Just wow! We loved our entire experience at Half Moon Beach and Calico Jack’s Pirate Shack. Tania greeted us with a friendly smile and cold Red Stripe then gave us a quick tour of the cute cottages and different areas of the beach. After hanging out, Michael took us over by boat to Calico Jacks Bar where he had more cold Red Stripe Hooray Beer for us! What an interesting soul, truly enlightened. He appreciates everything life brings him no matter how big or small. We were both entranced by his message of respect, love, happiness, and truth. It was so inspiring I got down on one knee and tearfully proposed to my girl, who said yes…. I have been coming to JA since 1990. If you want to experience a truly simple Jamaican way of “One Love”, this is it!
