The majority of the reviews and pictures are from Placita del Mercado in Santurce. This is a listing for the market in Rio Piedras. Rio Piedras Market has a long street of shops selling all sort of items. The main market hall has a food...More

This is my husband's first stop on every visit to PR. The market consists of blocks of shops where items can be found for pennies on the dollar. This is usually where the locals are so there is no tourist mark up. The central plaza...More

Fantastic open air market. It is slightly off the beaten path, so you get local prices, top quality produce and great street food. We were there for the fruit and Batidas and were very happy with them. We got there at 6:00am and it took...More

Nice place for cheap shopping. It gives you a good idea of what is locally produced: clusters of bananas, pineapples, yams, mangoes... Lot of food kiosks and other shops. Saturday is good day to get there. The main market place is surrounded by many shops...More

Visited this place while on a cruise stop. I must say, coming from an island life, this was a very welcomed experience. To see the local "Farmers Market" was something i didnt expect as most tours dont carry you into the heart of the city....More

Taste local produce, food, or drinks, in this "off-the-beaten-path" market, where all the locals go to shop. Area is safe, day or night, but you know the drill, always beware of your surroundings, wherever you travel. Try a local fruit smoothie (with rum). Tasty! OK,...More
