The gate is a neat piece of history to see as part of walk through Old San Juan. The semblance of the gate and what it means for Old San Juan's history is important and neat to see if the tour allows.

We observed this entrance gate and the wall it is part of from the deck of our tour boat as we cruised around the harbor and out to the Fort and back. The tour guide gave us a rundown of its history and purpose. It...More

We walked along the Paseo de la Prinzesa on our way up along the rocky seashore to the del Morro fortress. One sees former and present Governor's homes/mansions along the way. PLUS, the lovely old gate into old San Juan. Decades, perhaps centuries, ago, ships...More

Undergoing post-flooding repairs, but interesting nonetheless. Entrance to walk around the island just outside the city walls, when the restoration is complete.

While we were here we couldn't go down on the walkway infront of the gate which I was a little sad about but the waves were huge and it wasn't safe. Still a pretty place to go see even if you cant go through the...More

I loved walking on this path that wraps around Old San Juan. The gate was located just at the end of the road where our hotel (Caleta 64) was located.

When you think of the millions of souls that have come through this gate after disembarking from their ships, it makes you shiver as you walk through. So many came through here to walk to the Church to pay homage to God for keeping them...More

We decided to walk around the outside of the city walls, on a beautiful hot day. When we walked to these gates, we made the mistake of deciding not to take this exit, as the map we had did not indicate just how far it...More

There is not too much to see at the gate per se; however, one can pass through the gate and check it out and then take a nice walk along the wall.

Leave Old San Juan though the gate and walk around the outside of the walled it’s. It’s a dramatically different Veiw that you can enjoy. The whole walk round trip is about an hour and well worth taking

No tickets required! Only for the fortresses and they are cheap. The beaches are good and you can do as you like. Pretty safe IMHO.
