During our visit, it was high tide and the waves were harsh and there was a rip tide warning. Our hotel offered beach chairs/cabana or shade to relax so we just took advantage of that; did not swim. I love the beach vendors especially the lady that sold homemade empanadas on weekends (her side job). If you find her, try her empanadas... they were truly delicious. The beach resembles a mini Miami Beach lined with high rise condos & commercial buildings. Parking will be hard to find unless you are a registered guest in one of the hotels along the beach. Nevertheless, it made for one enjoyable weekend.

Major sand flea bites here in the late afternoon.
I suffered all night from a 30 minute walk on the beach around 4:30pm.

Gorgeous beach! I would have given it 5 stars if there were lifeguards, but aside from that it was perfect.

So much fun. My boyfriend, sister, and I had an amazing time. The views were absolutely amazing and our tour guide Edward was awesome. He was very knowledgeable of the area and offered help taking pics and lended a hand when needed. Make sure your hydrated and wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Don’t plan another excursion after this one. Larger groups take more time and you run the risk of missing your activity.

Beautiful beach with soft and warm sand located right outside the resorts. Definitely a fun beach to be in if you love waves but BE WARNED:
These waves are not kind. I got caught with a foamy white haymaker to the jaw for not paying attention and it knocked me flat on my backside.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL! This location is known for having dangerous rip currents and if you venture too far from shore you may very well not be able to get back. If you are planning on going to this beach be realistic to your swimming ability and make sure you are aware of the waves and the current for that day.

If you are one of the crazy ones who like getting ragdolled by waves at beaches this is a top pick.

If you are traveling with those who are not adept at swimming, small children, or do not want to deal with rough waves I recommend Escambron Beach just west of this location. There are rock formations out in sea that block the rough waves so that beach is more suited for swimming and relaxation. This beach is basically a fist fight with Poseidon.

I took my daughter and a friend to the El Condado Vanderbilt for a few days last April 2021. As we entered the beach next to La Concha hotel I saw red flag warning signs. I asked the chair attendant about it because there were dozens of people in the water. He said the rip tides are very dangerous and that he has witnessed several drownings because the bathers don’t pay attention to the signs. He added that if you choose to swim to go “only knee deep in the middle”. My daughter and her friend took his advice and bounced around in the shallow surf. I stood by ankle deep watching them like a hawk and praying like crazy that nobody drown as I watched swimmer after swimmer get sucked into deeper waters.

The beach of Condado is a very popular beach among tourists in San Juan craving a Caribbean beach resort experience with all the vibrant life of a city just steps away. It attracts diverse crowd, from families to famous celebrities. If you want to play on the water, you can enjoy windsurfing, a very popular watersport in Condado. all the top hotels and resorts are close as well as restaurants.

Well , despite tempting Condado Beach is not safe for swimming or bathing, the water has very dangerous currents. Neither adults nor children should be swimming at Condado Beach. Nearby, you can walk to Playita del Condado, (Playita means small) a small beach with calmer water, better for swimming and doing a little snorkeling.

We just came here, clicked few pics, dipped feet in sea water, wander around and moved to Playita condado.

Ps: I did not see any shower-bathroom here.

I decided to take a mini vacation for my 34th birthday and brought my kids along with me. We decided to go to the beach and go into the water close to the shore. Several others were also in the water. Suddenly my 12 year old screamed help while my 15 year old was next to me. I tried to reach for him but a huge wave knocked us over and before we knew it we could not touch the ground. My son was underwater and i cannot swim. I started drowning along with my daughter because i was unintentionally holding her down. The wave would bring me up and i would try with every thing in me to scream help, but the current was pulling us away from the shore. When i was finally realizing my fate, 2 guardian angels came to our rescue by the rocks. One guy said ,"if you dont grab my hand now, you will drown, i was in the army for 10 years and i almost drowned 30 minutes ago, my friend next to me here saved me". Still scared we grabbed onto him. Somehow the water pushed my son unto the rocks which he was holding on to for dear life. The rocks were very slippery. When we made it back to shore, no one else was in the water and most of the people on the beach did not even realize that we were drowning. It has been a year and i have really had PTSD everytime i remember Condado Beach. Those 2 men saved our lives, They were both wearing all black. If it wasnt for them, we would have died. We were staying at the Mariott and Stellaris Casino. The hotel did not warn guest about the dangers, no lifeguard and there was no sign about the conditions. i believe that Marriott owed it to their guest to warn them of these dangers as after researching there are multiple reports of drowning or near drowning in this area.

The Beach is absolutely beautiful, but people are right it’s a swim at your own risk/no swim high surf beach. There are signs everywhere that discourage swimming. Can you get in the water here?100% do you need to be smart 110%. The waves break close to shore and there’s plenty of depth in that to cool down. If you are a parent DO NOT LET YOUR KID SWIM OUT, go to a pool for that because the ocean is mean and doesn’t care about you or yours. Water is absolutely beautiful and the sand is soft! Don’t go swimming at night here, A 12 year old boy is still being searched for from a night swim! Hope this helps place is 100% checking out!

Today 2/4/2020 at 3.30pm I was with my parents stay in Marriott stellaris casino, while we wait for going to the airport at 4pm, I was watching from 16th floor, a couple swimming and suddenly the guy are passing the safety buoyancy and getting farther and farther,at first we thought that he swims in purpose and suddenly he lift his hand like asking some help,I was not sure and keep watching and yess he asked help…since I also watch the girlfriend seems like looking for him and can’t see him,I looked him again to make sure that he need a help and yess I was 100% sure he need a help after 40min in the water and raining hard every body are leaving the beach,so I called my husband to get some help, and my husband told security but they said there is not much they can do :-(
We need to leave the hotel to catch up our flight, I can not just get rid of what I saw, there is someone there that need help fighting the current to survive, hopefully those guy get help, we pray for him
