To visit the Nuyorican Cafe is to be transported to the intimate, dimly lit, energy driven, salsa venues of New York City in the early 1950's. The place has retained it's character since it's inception. What the "Whisky a Go-Go" signifies for rock in to Los Angeles, the Nuyorican Cafe is to Salsa music in Puerto Rico. Not to be... More

The instructor was great and we enjoyed the lively atmosphere once the live music started. The place is a little hard to find, but just ask a local and they will point you there.

Staff at CasaBlanca recommended the Nuyorican Cafe. Awesome place tucked in an alley/walking street. Good Mojito's and great performers

If you want to enjoy great live salsa music, this is the place. It's a small and unassuming place, you wouldn't think it would accommodate an 11 piece band and full dance floor full. We went early to take part in the salsa dance class they teach while the band sets up. It was fun! The instructor was very good,... More

Absolutely loved this place. Its small and in an alley way. But worth going to. We went 2 nights in a row. They do a salsa lesson around 9 and then a live band came on around 10. Drinks were good and cheap. I like the mix of people here. Tourists of all ages, locals and then some very very... More

This place was a really great time. Drinks are reasonably priced and the music was great. We had to pay a $5 cover, but it was a Saturday night, I'm unsure if they charge on other nights.

I can't begin to tell you how much fun we had here! Definitely don't come for the food (it wasn't very good), but the live music and dancing is excellent. It is not the easiest place to find and it's kind of down an alley, but keep searching and don't give up. We got there about 8:45 and there was... More

Yes, it's in an alley, but in the safe touristy district of Old San Juan. It's a small venue with a small dance floor. The live music was good. As a dancer, the number of ladies with dance skills was disappointing. On the evening I attended there were only two women with good dance skills. That was it (and for... More

Down a dark alley, but pretty safe and friendly inside. Great atmosphere with live music, friendly bouncers, bar tenders, and a good mix of tourists just wanting to have fun and some locals actually there to dance.

Go there if your intention in not salsa dancing or you have a partner. I went there late Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Both nights the music was good but there were all tourists in their 20s. So couldn't find a real salsa dancer to dance with.
